Years of excellent service from Roth 8/8/2011

I searched here just to get their phone number quickly and I was truly shocked to see they had some negative reviews. I've had my car worked on here for about 13 years, and both my grown sons have also taken their cars to Roth. We have always had extremely positive experiences and I trust Bob wholeheartedly. While I can't recall the exact circumstances because it was several years ago, i know that one time I brought in my car and Bob found it was something very minor that didn't really need to be fixed and he didn't charge me a cent; now that's an honest mechanic! Car repair is expensive, but his prices are fair and I know I'm not being lied to or ripped off. Even though I have moved and now find it inconvenient to get my car out to Roth, I'm willing to still get it there rather than go to a place where I can't trust them. more

Where's My Oil? 8/5/2010

My manual says the oil capacity is 4.5 qt. I supplied super expensive Mobil 1 synthetic oil (5 qt). I've been to 3 different garages for oil changes. They've always returned a half filled qt of my oil. Bob didn't do so. He claimed the car used up all 5 qts. So either someone pocketed my oil or they added more than the manual says to use. Can't trust them either way. more

Fair is Fair 6/11/2010

I went with a written order for several things. Among them, I really needed to have my hood locking mechanism fixed. (As in, make it work like it used to). When I came to pick it up he said they had it working & charged $9.75 for the ""repair."" I drove it around the corner & found it wasn't working. I went back & he argued that it was fine. His mechanic rammed my hood release way up into the dash & harshly slammed my fiberglass hood to force it shut. I went back next day & asked for credit for $9.75 since, they didn't actually fix it. (Mind you, I had $140 worth of other things done). He refused, saying I was not welcome in his shop & told me to ""have a nice life."" As I walked away I heard him shouting, but I just ignored him. Pros: Will generally do the work ok. Cons: Often overpriced. Charges fees for things like 'advising'. more
