December 5, 2012 I was followed around the Ross Dress for Less store in League City TX, an upper middle class neighborhood known to most Houstonians ?as a very safe area to live and shop.? At first, I didn?t realize that I was being followed on suspicion of shoplifting. Initially, I thought I was being stalked by another shopper. He followed me from aisle to aisle, watching me and creeping closer & closer. He scared me because I WASN?T SURE WHAT HE WANTED, I didn?t even bring my purse into the store because I had planned on buying several gifts & didn?t want to carry anything extra, I had my ID & credit card in my pocket. As soon as I realized that this man was an undercover security agent working for the store, I made a beeline for the check stand. While paying for my $190.00 of items, Tina (cashier) who was ringing me up, told the security man that was following me around. ?To go watch another lady who was shopping because she had a lot of merchandise in her cart!!!!? I went home but couldn?t stop feeling violated by the behavior of the store employees. I considered taking my whole purchase back and complaining to the manager, but I had spent a lot of time carefully selecting those items and I am already feeling the Christmas time crunch, so I have just decided not to give that store anymore of my time or business. If you want to be able to shop in a retail store, or otherwise, without being followed around as though you?re some kind of criminal be sure to avoid Ross Dress for Less League City.
