James Root is one of the kindness people i""ve ever met. He started taking care of my animals over thirtyfive years ago. He truly cares about your pets. Dr. Root is honest and will do anything he can to save animal, but will also let you know when the time comes so your pet won't suffer.He has treated over thirty of my babies I would trust him with my life. I recently had to seek medical attention for a dog that was in my care. Dr. Root's clinic was not only the closest, but highly recommended by friends and acquaintances. The staff seemed very professional and caring. They were as gentle as possible with their frightened little patient while doing a preliminary exam before Dr. Root came in. I was very well impressed with Dr. Root. He ran only the tests necessary to make his diagnosis. He was very thorough in explaining test results, his diagnosis, prescribed meds and his suggestions for for follow-up care. I felt very confident with his diagnosis and treatment. BTW: The little dog was doing great within a few hours. more

We had already been using Dr. Root for a couple years when my dog got a weird fungal infection in her nose. He didn't stop until he found out what was wrong with her and didn't nickel and dime us to death. He is a great Dr and is willing to listen to pet owners when they have an idea. I have 3 dogs and they all see Dr Root. Won't go anywhere else!!! more

After moving to Nashville and asking around about good vets, I was referred to Dr. Root by several people. I took my 3 dogs there when they came down with bronchitis. They received treatment from another vet, but it had no effect on them. The medicine Dr. Root prescribed worked like a dream. He is very compassionate with animals, very informative, patient with answering any questions you may have, and has a great sense of humor. His office staff is the friendliest around and their waiting area is absolutely spotless! Embarrassing as it is, my dog had an accident in there once and before I even knew what happened, they had the mess cleaned up. Another thing I love about Dr. Root is that he always calls the day after to check on your pets to see how they're doing. I would highly recommend taking your pets to Dr. Root for quality care and service for your pets Pros: friendly staff, exceptionally clean, quality service Cons: None! more

My dog takes medicine for anxiety and if I'm out and and something comes up that makes her feel very anxious, all I have to do is call Dr. Root's office and since they have known my dog for along time, they can have it ready for me in minutes. They really care about your pet. No put on a show at their office....it's the real thing. Pros: Best trained staff in town Cons: Can't think of any. more

I always wished that someone in my family was a vet so I'd know that when my pet was sick I could count on the absolute best advice and care that I could possibly have. This is EXACTLY how I feel about Dr. Root and his staff. I have 3 pets, one of which has a number of very serious health problems. I have been to several of the vet clinics in the area (Mobley, Dr. Head, Value Vet on Gallatin and in Hermitage), and I used to work for a veterinary clinic in Green Hills. I can honestly say the care provided by Dr. Root is miles above the rest. His staff is more than friendly -- they are truly some of the nicest and most caring people I have ever met -- and they always treat my pets as if they were their own. Dr. Root is extremely knowledgeable and honest and I trust him completely. The office is always super clean, and there really is just no other reason to go anywhere else! I live in Nashville and make the drive to Goodlettsville because of the fantastic care and attention we receive. I just can't say enough about how wonderful they are. My family has been using Dr. Root for about 40 years. The prices are very reasonable and they don't charge for unnecessary things. He and staff take pride in treating you like the #1 priority. In fact, my mother and him have remained friends to this day and she stops by just to say hi and she doesn't even have a pet. In June 2007 at 4:59 pm, I walked in without an appointment, because my new puppy was very sick, and the vet across the street refused to see him because they were getting ready to close. Although Dr. Root's office was near closing time as well, the staff settled me in a room and they began checking out my puppy. He was diagnosed with Parvo. For eight days we went between Dr. Root's clinic in the daytime and the emergecy pet clinic during the night. He and his staff were very kind and informative, and they treated our family and puppy like they had known us forever. Thankfully our puppy survived, and I know it was in large part because of the care he received from Dr. Root and his staff. In the year since, we have been in for a couple of minor emergencies, and routine examinations for both our dog and cat, we have always recevied excellant care from everyone there. Dr. Root always calls us at home and checks on his patients. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone who wants quality care for their pet, you will not be disappointed. Dr. Root is always open to listening to your concerns and questions, his staff is equally helpful anytime you call or come in. Great place, wonderful caring people. Dr. Root has been my vet for more years than we really want to admit - I'll just say that neither of us had gray hair when I started taking my four-legged kids to him. He is the BEST. His office staff is also amazing and always helpful, friendly and very professional. I have dogs and cats - many of them over the years - and they never get tired of me talking about my babies. Everyone is very supportive and compassionate, we have laughed over some of the things my ""kids"" have done and cried when we have had to face losing them. This is the place you want to take your animals. I love my dogs, and I am very picky on where I take them for anything. I just discovered Roots and I won't take my dogs anywhere else.
