Rookies Sports Club

Rookies is a great place to go whether alone or with friends. The bartenders all make you feel welcome. Stopped in the other day and had a great time. Got there before my friends. Everyone there was friendly. Bar was busy but service was excellent! Happy Hour is a great deal. The food was delicious. Pizza was excellent! My friends liked the wings too! I always have a great time when Im at Rookies. I LOVE the people who work there! The regular crowd is kick-ass and kind. Its a sports club that is a great place to watch the games without being filled with jocks and jerks! The Pizza is awesome! The owner sponsors a TON of local softball teams as well as BREW CITY BRUISERS (all female flat track roller derby)! It's never too loud or too crowded. I recommend coming in for a bombpop shot, or to play some dice with the locals...Josh, Jess, and the rest of the crew are great bartenders! Its just a great place!!! Pros: Great Staff! Good food! I came in from out of town and wasn't familiar with the area. I looked on this site to get some ideas. Saw that Rookies was close to where I was staying so despite a few negative reviews I thought I would give them a shot. Normally I wouldn't waste my time writing a review but the food and service I received was outstanding. The pizza was by far the tastiest I have ever eaten. Fresh ingredients and a Delicious sauce. The staff was friendly and prompt with all of my dining needs. When ever I come to Milwaukee, Rookies is my first stop!! I recommend them to everyone. The only thing I have to say is the owners are cheap and rip off there employees. The bartenders are more worried about there friends or family then there customers. The food is great if Linda is cooking. They just don't seem to care enough about anything to get people in there. It's boring and needs something besides foosball and darts. This place was your average sports bar and I agree that it's very ""South Milwaukee"", nothing special about it at all. Drinks were watered down and the service was terrible. We had a female bartender who was very rude to me yet very attentive to my boyfriend. As we were leaving she even made a play for him. He was repulsed by her. It was a very sad display.This would be a good place to go if you enjoy ugly, cheap, desperate bartenders who are extremely disrespectful! Not a real good atmosphere. Rookies IS a family bar you and shoot the dice shoot talk with the bartenders and Randy and Melinda\r and Especially Linda the Cook. We almost Lost Linda and it was part of Rookies Kitchen. Rookies is a great place to hang out anytime. They throw fun parties, have good food, and friendly staff. It is easy to strike up a conversation with any bartender and the waitresses are sweethearts...they always try to make sure that you are being helped and are taken care of. Rookies is my favorite place to hang out at during a Packer or Brewer game. Plus, most bars just have frozen pizzas, but Rookies doesn't...they have the best pizzas...and Bloody Mary's. I'm getting hungry and thirsty just writing this review! :) If your looking for a fun and relaxing place or even a party bar...Rookies has it, the atmosphere depends on the customers attitudes. ""Rookies Sports Club"", what a great place with a wonderfully warm and pleasing atmosphere. Large enough for great parties and you're never in a position that you can't see a TV for the Packer's, Brewer's, Buck's, or the Badger games plus other numerous televised sporting events. This is a true sports bar, not your rec room so Rookies will be open tomorrow and all you have to do is stop by to enjoy a good time. Best Sports Bar in Milwaukee. Bartending staff is great. Prices on food and Drink is reasonable. Beer is always cold and the Frozen mugs make it even more enjoyable. Great crowd, I've never seen a problem between anyone. I must say they have the best Pizza in town. Plenty of TV's in the place which bartenders try their best to put on what you want. Great place to throw a party. There is plenty of room to have fun. Looking to pass some time after a wedding before a reception, swing in and the time will fly by. Been to many sports bars, so they claim to be, but Rookies is one of the best i've ever been at. The food is always good, the waitstaff is courteous and friendly. Whatever day I go, weekday or weekend, there's always some one you know, and some sporting event to watch. With the many T.V.'s, you can usually watch the game you're interested in. The owner is always friendly and remembers you from the first time you were there. It's a great place to have a party, and some of Rookies parties are memorable, like opening day, holidays and new years eve. If you want to go to a sports bar were you can actually watch a game and don't have to scream just to talk across the table, or be so crowded you can't breathe, or get just so-so food - then Rookies is the place to be. I've been going to Rookies since 2000, and can say nothing but good about it. The food is great, especially the pizza (one of the best in town), and the appetizers are just as good. The bartending staff can make anything you can think of and have great bloody mary's with a ""secret ingredient"" that I haven't found anywhere else. The waitstaff (which most bars don't even have) are very attentive and courteous. They always make sure you have everything you need. I liken Rookies to Cheers, a comfortable place to meet friends, and everybody knows your name. After one or two visits, you become a regular. The owner always makes sure you are welcome, and thanks you for coming in. Whenever I have been there for Packer games, it has always been a lost of fun with specials, the ""Miller Girls"", prizes given out and special ""touchdown"" drinks. If you want a fun place to watch a sporting event, have good food, good drinks, good friends, and a great time, THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE. And if you want to talk Brewers, Packers or Badgers, the Bartenders are always entertaining and knowledgeable about hometown sports.\r \r P.S. Rookies is a big place with no personality. It is more like a south milwaukee bar with a bunch of old cronies at the corner of the bar. They offer no specials until sunday night after 9 pm. The tv's arent current with the times, they don't have the sunday ticket, and their packer parties are pretty lame. They use to have some really good bartenders but since the summer of 06 it has lacked any real experience behind the bar. No one there knows how to make a good bloody mary anymore. Their menu is pretty boring and their kitchen closes way too early. They have 2 dartboards in the place, an old version of goldentee and no pool tables. That wouldnt be horrible if the music was any good but it isn't. \r Save yourself some time and money and head down to the Terminal. Its new, its huge, there is a ton of flatscreen tvs, pooltables dart boards, goldentee 07live,silverstrike07, and unbelievable food. I don't work there but im a regular there now. Rookies is the Best Sports Bar in Milwaukee! Great people, staff and owner. Always Super food, cold beer, and I can watch ALL the games on their many TV's. Clean comfortable atmosphere.
