When I think of plastic surgery, I think of cosmetic procedures. I never imagined myself needing a plastic surgeon at the age of 39 to reconstruct the lower part of my eye after I was diagnosed with skin cancer. I was referred to Dr. Friedman by my primary care physician and was very nervous about my visit with him. Not only was the office beautiful but the staff was so kind that my fears were immediately put at ease. Dr. Friedman's office runs on time, which is important to anyone with a busy schedule. My first meeting with the Dr. was very reassuring. He looked me straight in the eye and shook my hand. I felt better already. Dr. Friedman explained the different options for removing the cancer so close to my eye and really recommended a procedure done by a different Dr. It would have been easy for him to do the whole thing but he let me know that the cure rate with the other Dr.'s procedure was much higher than what he could accomplish. It was set up that this other specialist would remove the cancer using the latest techniques and then Dr. Friedman would reconstruct the area under my eye. He took time to explain how he would do the reconstruction, complete with drawings. I really appreciated his care and the time he took to make sure I understood. On the day of my surgeries, I went to the specialist's surgery center for the cancer removal (all the way down to my muscle tissue) and then had the reconstruction done in Dr. Friedman's surgery center, which is connected to his office. There was no waiting, they took me right in and he again went through the reconstruction with me. I felt very comfortable with him and his abilities and the surgery went off without a hitch. His office called later that day and later that week to check on my progress. They have always been very wonderful and caring. I can honestly say that I have to search for the scar and it has only been four months. No one knows that I had surgery twice in a day this year and for that I am very grateful to Dr. Friedman and his wonderful reconstruction.
