We are not a handy household. We have drills and hammer and handsaws, but we really shouldn't. So when we moved into our new house here in Seattle, we were stymied. We needed a handyman to build us a worktop above the washer and dryer and a bookshelf in the alcove on the stairs.
And then we found Ron (thank you www.seattle.craigslist.org).
And thanks to Ron, we now have an amazing work area (complete with custom trap door to get to the water shut off) above our washer and dryer, and a custom bookshelf that completely exceeded our expectations in value, quality and appearance. Just just tell Ron what you want - maybe draw him a picture if you feel like it - and within a few visits, it's done. He even did a lot of the construction and painting in his home shop so our house would not be filled with fumes.
He was respectful of our home, delightful with our daughter, considerate of our time and our schedule, flexible, kind and just an all-around good guy.
I had second thoughts about posting this because I would hate to see him get too busy to squeeze us in, but really, he's too much of a gem to keep to ourselves.
10/01 UPDATE - Ron is moving out of town!! Sorry to tease you all. Now I need a rec of a good new handyman.
