Bait-and-Switch 6/11/2011

I will NEVER return to this place. I expect a venue to be good to their word. Specifically, when a venue advertise a particular night for a particular event, I expect that event to happen -- in this case, karaoke. I called earlier in the day and the lady who answered confirmed that Saturday night is karaoke night., and that it would start up at 9 PM. Instead, the KJ arrived late, didn't start until 9:45 PM, and then played karaoke for one hour before switching to dance music (because that's what the crowd voted for). Since when does a KJ have the right to put a vote to change a pre-established format to a crowd-full of rowdies?). The dance music continued until I finally went to the manager at 11 PM to complain about what was happening. The manager, some big arrogant guy in a ten-gallon hat, came across with this ""I'm bigger and meaner than you"" stance when I approached him (mistakenly assuming I would crawl away with my tail between my legs). Instead, I looked him right in the eyes as I complained that the KJ was playing dance music rather than doing karaoke simply because the crowd had yelled out for more dance music. His answer to me was a very unfriendly, ""We do what the majority want"". I explained that wasn't the issue. The issue was that we were in the ""karaoke room"" (as they call it) to perform..... duh.... KARAOKE. I guess he was too thick, too arrogant (or both) to understand the point I was trying to make because when I mentioned that the KJ had only played karaoke for one hour, his smug answer back was, ""Well, then we did karaoke, didn't we?"" My answer back: ""What? One hour of karaoke constitutes ""karaoke night?"" So I told him we were leaving and wouldn't be back. I guess Roman's has set a new bar for the shortest karaoke night on record. So for $25 on dinner and one drink, I got to do one song in an ""establishment"" (and I use that term loosely) that uses what I can only describe as ""bait-and-switch"" techniques to draw a crowd. But to solve this whole problem, my suggestion to this venue is pretty simple: Advertise Saturday night as ""Free-for-All Night"". Or better yet, have voting booths set up on Saturday nights where everyone gets an ""I voted"" sticker at the end of the night that they can plaster to the back of their pick-em-up trucks. more

Don't even think about it! 2/11/2011

It is old, dirty and disgusting. The food is the worst I've seen. French fries soaked in so much grease that they are limp. Friday fish fry that is half raw. Terrible! If you like low class food, dirty surroundings this is the place for you. more

great karaoke 4/22/2010

I had never heard of this bar/restaurant until I moved to the far west valley in the last year. My dad was the one that told me about it at first. He had heard about this place from his coworkers and he frequents the bar for the food. He always has complimentary things to say about it. Then within the last month I met someone and started dating him. He and I got to talking and he told me he liked karaoke and poker and went to this place for both. I then told him about my dad liking the place for the food. So within the last month ""Scott"" and I have gone here for the karaoke and drinks. The bar tends to have a country-ish feel to it, but the staff and patrons are friendly so anyone, regardless of personal style or music preference, is welcome here. I've only ever been there on karaoke nights-Thurs-so I can't say how the other nights are, but I always have fun. It's nice not to have to drive to Scottsdale to have a nice time. I would recommend this place to anyone who lives on the west side of town and is looking for a place to just hang out and relax. Pros: great employees/atmosphere, resonably priced beers, no cover more

fun place 11/24/2008

this place is fun all around. the karaoke guy is a true classic and the atmosphere is great. one thing I noticed it helps if you have a cowboy hat on I was the only one not wearing one Pros: fun place Cons: you need a cowboy hay more

Best kept secret in town! 12/5/2007

This is such a great place to go where you can come as you are feel right at home. The food is great and the service is excellent! They have the best country band in town with the most unbelievable fiddle player . It's a great place to dance (Or learn to dance with the best ) and have a great time. If you don't have the time of your life it's your own fault! Sundays are also a good time to go and meet the local crowd. As far as the bartender that likes to tell you when you've had too much to drink? I've never seen that happen unless you really did have too much to drink and were causing some problems. This place is truly the best kept secret in town! Pros: Friendly people with the best country band Cons: Located in Goodyear more

Great casual bar! 7/2/2007

Since my husband and I just moved here we were looking for somewhere to hang out and relax. A friend from work recommended this place so we tried it. On the outside it almost looks like a shack, but it is different on the inside. It is welcoming, relaxing, and different. The place is decorated with NASCAR items, classic car items, old pictures, and western inspired decorations. They have a room with shuffle boards, a karoke room, and a room were the band play. The band plays country and rock music, and are good. The cowrd is mixed with a vareity of people. It is a great place to relax on the weekends. Pros: Great Environment Cons: One of the bartenders likes having the power to decide how much you drink more
