One of the Best Zoo's in the US 9/8/2009

The Roger Williams park zoo is an adventure for children of all ages. I especially like to polar bear caves and they have an underwater pool where you can view the bears swimming. They really put a lot into this zoo thanks to Cianci. They still have some rides but very few. The carasol is a beautiful work of art and the face painter, Sue Greco, is excellent. She also does children's birthday parties in any character. You can view some of her characters at a website called www.brunacostumes.com more

Nice, spacious zoo--great family outing! 2/28/2006

The Roger William's Park Zoo is a great day trip for your family, particularly if you have young children. They have a nice assortment of animals, from elephants to polarbears to prarie dogs, and all of their exhibits are very fun and interactive. It's a fairly spacious place, so you'll do lots of walking--wear comfortable shoes! If you get a chance, try out the carousel located on the grounds of the zoo--it's a really really old one, and is a lot of fun to ride. more

Nice zoo 10/18/2005

I love zoos and this is one of my favorite ones. My kids also enjoy seeing the animals. They have a huge assortment of animals. The exhibits are very nice and educational. It's relatively clean, but a bit "pricey". If you have a big family then it will cost you a pretty penny for admission. If you want to take your children their and know that you will go more than once then you are better off buying the season pass. It's a better deal for your money and well worth it! more

Good time had by all 10/10/2005

The dino exhibit is a waste of time and money unless you have small children with you. It's just obvious animatronics characters with predictable motions. The exhibits were nice, the animals appeared well kept. Food was basic concession stand fare. I did enjoy the wetlands boardwalk trail. Not sure if that's what it was called but it was a nice shady walk and the kids tended to stay away from it. The walkways are uneven, though. Have a care if anyone in your party has trouble walking. more

Good Zoo for the area 10/10/2005

The Roger Williams Park Zoo has a lot of land for wildlife, but their zoo lacks variety and some of the larger animals. The zoo isn't setup so you can easily walk around and see all the animals easy, I felt like it was a maze and you had to always go out of your way to see the animals in their habitats. Was somewhat disappointed. They has a area for people to eat and relax with some food and beverage vendors. Their main highlight used to be the dinosaur exhibit, not sure if it is still there, but it was all robots, and not real animals (obviously!) more

5 Stars 9/29/2005

Wow, this place as tons of exibits. The animals are great, and they have a wonderful variety. The gift shops are great too, but expensive. However, there bathrooms are quite yucky and smelly. I normally bring my own food, so I can't really judge that. I think the prices for the tickets are great, especially considering what a wide range of things you can see and do there. The only thing I don't like about the place is that you can't take your strollers into any of the buildings. Now I know why they have rental ones. Highly recommended more

Cheetahs and Elephants and Polar Bears, Oh My! 8/19/2005

The Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, Rhode Island, is a fun and educational outing. I took my sister and her 8-year-old son there, and we all had a wonderful time. We saw lots of different species, of course, but our favorites were the polar bears and the penguins. We especially got a kick out of watching the polar bears swimming underwater. The zoo also features cheetahs and elephants among many other interesting animals and exhibits. The grounds are pretty, and it's a nice day out in the fresh air.
