I went to Rocky Mountain Urgent Care in Westminster. I've been an ICU nurse for 22 years. I've seen bad doctors, I've seen stupid doctors, but I have never seen the type of doctor I came across here. I am visiting Denver this week and I came down with a urinary tract infection. When I arrived the front staff was very rude, just short with you, I was treated like I had shown up announced on someone's first date. I've seen rude before, but these two working behind the counter would have seemed rude in the DMV. As soon as I sat down to complete the paperwork they started to gossip about someone. There were three other groups of patients in the waiting room and everyone you could tell was paying attention to their conversation. First I thought they were talking about some doctor, but it became obvious they were talking about the man who owned the clinic. I couldn't believe employees would speak so openly and loud about the boss and his new wife. 60 minutes of waiting, and I get taken back where I give a urine sample and I am placed in a room. 30 minutes later and this Dr. Brown came in and introduced himself by announcing before the door closed that I didn't have a urinary tract infection, he proceeded to tell me that the urine test proved I didn't have a UTI. Now, in the ICU we often see UTIs as a complication, and the docs at Cook County have been very clear in explaining the test. He completely misread the test. He said because my Nitrite was positive I did not have a UTI. Well that would be great accept that proved I did have one. I pointed that out and he looked utterly confused before he just repeated himself. I pointed out I was an ICU nurse and that the test isn't that accurate to begin with, not that he could read the test. He again repeated himself and started to walk out. I didn't know what to make of this, I stopped him by saying, ""you are just going to leave now"". He stopped and told me he would send off a urine culture and I would be called in 3 days. I told him I would be back in Chicago in 3 days and asked for antibiotics. He agreed. Which I think now has me more upset than everything else. Why was he giving me antibiotics if he didn't think I had the infection? I mean, it was obvious I had a UTI to everyone but him, but is he just giving me the antibiotics to get me to leave? Some male MA with unkept facial hair came in and was ruder than the front staff. He handed me the perscription and told me to come back if ""my cough got worst"". I couldn't make this up if I tried. I was walked to the front where the rude girl tried to charge me despite having insurance where I don't have a co-pay. I asked her to explain this and she explained that my strep test was not covered, again, how can someone make this up? I actually just turned around and started to walk out with her yelling ""Miss"" and than cursing as I walked out. I should have been the one cursing. I went and sat down in the car to try to calm down. After a few seconds I looked at my perscription and this idiot Dr. wrote for Diflucan, which is a yeast medication and has nothing to do with UTIs. I thought about going back in, but what could I do. I came back to my sisters she had some amoxicillin in the medicine cabinet, I took it last night and I am already much much better. Today I am still mad so I am writing this review. I decided to tear up my letter to the owner, he must be just as bad as the idiots he hires. Avoid this place: It doesn't get any easier than a urinary tract infection. If they can't treat that, they can't help any of your conditions. I am glad I don't live in Denver. I did write a letter to every medical and business board I could think of. This clinic needs to be shut down, the staff never allowed to work in any organization that interacts with people, and this Dr. Brown needs to retire or find a line of work he can't harm people.
