Good atmosphere/BAD Dreads 7/11/2010

The atmosphere of this place is great & for the most part they're very friendly. However, I spent like $300 to get dreadlocks done there.. DO NOT, I repeat... DO NOT get dread locks done here.. They use SO much Wax it's not even funny... And if you ask, they tell you the wax is water soluble... Think about that for a minute... Water soluble WAX?? Right... Yes, I was stupid for believing it... But I wasn't thinking. I was just excited to get dreads... The wax does NOT wash out as he leads you to believe. NEVER use Knotty Boy dread products (Which is what they use & sell). Dreads that have wax in them do NOT last.. and are NOT healthy. If you're going to get dreads, do it the RIGHT and natural way. Keep your hair clean by washing it with ALL NATURAL, RESIDUE FREE Shampoo, and STOP conditioning.. and STOP combing.. and with a little patience, you will have BEAUTIFUL, HEALTHY DREADS that require ZERO maintenance (Except separation). You should NEVER use products on your dreads... Make your own shampoo and to tame frizzies use a LITTLE Aloe Vera from an Aloe plant. And that's it... if anyone tells u anything else, don't trust em! Pros: Good atmosphere Cons: Bad result more

Great cuts, great people 2/10/2010

I have been getting my hair cut here for years and I wouldn't want to get it cut anywhere else. I stumbled upon the place by accident and I'm glad I did. The first thing I noticed was the fact that the entire place is decorated with a rock-theme. This involves wild wallpaper, pictures of popular rock bands, TVs with music videos, and rock radio that's loud enough to be noticeable, but too loud so that you can't hear anybody talking. Which is great, because the staff is very friendly and open to conversation. Plus, they make a point to remember their customers, no matter how infrequent you are. Pros: Friendly people, great styles, fun atmosphere. Cons: Hard to spot at first. more

Down n Dirty Stylin 12/19/2004

I hate going to foo foo hair salons. If you want to get away from suburban housewifes with predictable Good Housekeeping hairstyles, this is a great place. I've worked in rock music, gotten an art degree, and now work in the corporate biz world, but I still want to be stylish, maintain my edge, and rock out always. Hair is one way to express that. At Rockstyles, a husband and wife team has done a lot of local rockers' hair and video shoots for the last 10 years... but they can do regular everyday hair too. One thing going for them is the non-routine hair extensions and dreds service. Not to mention crazy coloring - they mentioned that they recently dyed some chicks' head w/ a giraffe pattern. At the same time, they do a prety good perm- I just had my hair loose permed and it rocks. Pros: Personable staff, competitive price, Rockin atmosphere more
