I would avoid this car service. A driver named OJ charged me $71 for a ride from Double Tree Hotel on the corner of 140 st and 135 avenue (nearJFK airport) to Winter Garden Theater in Broadway. As a tourists I even gave a customary tip of $7. To make matters worst I was actually sharing the ride with 2 other hotel guests from France who were getting off a couple of blocks from my stop. The driver told us that we were lucky to be splitting the toll. He however, did not give me a receipt. Later in the evening I took an NYC cab from the same spot where I was dropped and went back to the hotel. The total cost of the trip plus tip was just $38. I called up their company hot line and a person named Yamcy James nicknamed Chris answered my call. I complained about the exorbitant fee which now blatantly seemed an over charging. He initially told me that the total cost was just $61 and that it should even be just half of that if I were actually splitting the ride with another passenger, then, he excused himself for several minutes after which he completely changed his opinion on the incident saying that the $71 charge for the trip was just about right and that it was actually up to me to give that $7 tip. He also said that they do not allow passengers to split rides. He promised to fax my receipt to my hotel which as of this moment have not yet arrived. If ever you take a ride through this car service I advise you to make the cost clear from the start. After this experience I applaud the NYC taxi cabs for their honest and professional service and strongly recommend them to tourists like me.
