Rock island opened as Denver's premier underground club in the days when viaducts (bridges) provided exit from a neglected downtown, and the reaches beneath the bridges were seedy and fantastic. Gentrification has saved downtown's economy, but gems like Rock Island remain only in the memories of those who took cabs back and forth because you wouldn't dare leave a decent car alone in that neighborhood.
