Rock Construction Management, LLC

Chris Bidigare at Rock is a crooked, immoral individual. We are doing a simple addition on our second floor and hired Rock. The permit was approved quickly, yet the work didn't begin until 2 months later - Rock lied and claimed the village was still reviewing it. He also claimed that he took over Rock from his dad and that is why it says the company has only been around since 2010. Then, all of the floor beams were notched out and the framers used our old trusses, though the drawings called for a stick-build. He also used subs that were not on the permit. Only 20% of the work was done, and done poorly, yet Rock asked for 95% of the payment to ensure it was done swiftly. Once the payment was received, all work stopped (the two subs that started work were not paid) and Chris claimed Rock was going out of business. Rock/Chris has subsequently disappeared after his last email stating they were going out of business if we did not accept a pittance (about 3% of what is necessary to finish the addition) over 6 years for the termination of the contract. Of the many jobs he has done, I bet he has only completed a handful and duped the great majority out of a lot of money. He took measured efforts to deceive us and gain our trust, only to steal from us in the end. He is a crook. more

Chris Bidigare is an experienced CROOK. I totally agree with all of the other comments because they are TRUE. The only one that may have had success was either lucky or a liar herself. Chris will get the bulk of your money upfront and will only call you when it is time for payments. After the majority of the monies is paid, He will email now and then. I just received a email from him and he THINKS his company is going into bankruptcy. THere has to be something done to stop this greedy, unethnical maniac. Maybe he just hasn't ot ran into the right person yet. - he will. I still have a dumpster in my drive way. My hardwood floors are ruined because his framer was in such as hurry per Chris instructions that he did not even pitch the tarp so water would run off of it. I threatened to stop the work and he had the nerve to threatened me with court. I HOPE that I do get my day in court. I want to see him in a orange jumpsuit with beautiful shining brackets. I am pretty sure we all saved our money for the job and did not enjoy being taken advantage of. In my opinion, he only has a A rating with the BBB because they have not yet posted my complaint. Go after him over and over again. DOn't give up - he hasn't. more

Stay as far away from Chris B. and this company as you can. The previous reviewer is right, Chris comes off as a decent guy but watch out because he will screw you in the end. The man is an out and out crook! He was convicted of Mortgage Rescue Fraud by the Illinois States Attorney when he swindled Sr. Citizens out of their hard earned money when he was President of Platinum Investment and General Manager of Advantage Mortgage. He has continued to operate in the same fashion with both of his home improvement companies, Fairway Construction (now bankrupt) and Rock Construction. He doesn't pay his subcontractors. front loads contracts and then walks away from the job with your money in his pocket! He isa scammer! I've learned the hard way and I can only hope to prevent others from making the same mistake! Do yourself a favor and save your money, don't hire Chris because you will be sorry if you do! more

Chris, the owner, came out to assess the room addition we wanted. Seemed like a nice guy, smooth talker. Bragged all about his building for 26 years and all the fantastic work he does, (no pictures by the way). After we talked for about an hour, he measured and I gave him a picture of EXACTLY what i wanted, he gave me a verbal estimate that was 1/2 of what the future written one was! If you have been building for 26 years, like he said, how can you be SO far off! Then when I asked him about Fairway Construction, the last company he owed that reportedly swindled a ton of people in 2009-2010, and went bankrupt, he got defensive. Told me he had an A+ rating with the BBB. He should! I looked and he was a member since 12/2010. Gee...no bad reports in 3 months! Maybe that's a nice pat on the back for him at this point in his career. As I said, he got all defensive and then said, "I think we'll take a pass" on my addition. He wanted 75% of the money just after the rough materials were up. Sounds like a lot to me for not much work done. I hope Chris realizes what a favor he did me by "passing" on my addition. Good luck 'Markinbrookfield', it sounds like you ARE screwed. If you ever get the chance...make sure you "take a pass" on Rock Construction. more

I'm having a teriible time with this contractor right now (4/08/11). They took A LOT of my money--I gave them too much up front--and have seemingly abandoned the job. They don't return phone calls and respond only with vague, evasive e-mails about when they're coming back to finish the job. They have left my house a big mess and I'm afraid I'm screwed. more

Sorry to hear the other review say such bad things, maybe its an ex employee or someone with a grudge, but my experience with Rock was great! I called Rock last year for an estimate (they were Rock last summer when I called them...) and i checked them out on the BBB. They were friendly, and when I called them back recently to do the work, they honored the estimate from last year and gave me a winter discount too boot ! They did a wonderful job remodeling my basement. They were'nt the cheapest, but in the end the work and quality was superb! Use this company !! Dont do business with this company!! The Owner Chris B., he had a previous company in 2010 call Fairway Construction located in Oak Park, IL. He took and swindled alot of customers, they took their money and never finished or started work. He closed down Fairway and filed for bankrupcy and opened Rock Construction. They don't pay their sub-contractors you will get liens on your property. The guy is a salesman and that is about all. more
