Thankyou RPH 1/8/2012

Just a note to express my thanks to the entire staff at Rochester Presbyterian Home for taking wonderful care of my family members. Although dementia was taking its toll, they were never kept more active or engaged, whether it was playing games( sometimes one on one ),day trips, breakfast outings, or just finding the time to talk with them.It was a comfort to know the RPH staff was there. Pros: null Cons: null more

Attractive and great programs, but poor care from staff. 8/29/2011

The care that I have seen provided for my grandmother at Rochester Presbyterian Home has been borderline elder abuse. They do have a very nice facility and the resources to provide wonderful care for someone going through alzheimers. Unfortunately many of the services they boast about providing are not actually given to the patients. This may not be true for the residents in the early stages who can still take care of themselves. The residents in the middle to late stages are left seating on their own getting zero interaction from any of the nurses or aides. As sad as it is to see this happening to the other residents, it's horrible to watch someone you care about being neglected to the point that they aren't even being taken to the bathroom when they ask for help. I hope this facility starts providing proper training or hiring aides that have the training to actually care for their residents. more

Best Assisted Living for Seniors in the Rochester NY area 12/10/2008

This is an attractive, well-decorated senior facility located in the heart of the City of Rochester. RPH operates under the "Eden" philosophy that believes all people need to be among living things and to be treated with respect, regardless of their mental or physical condition. Staff is well-trained and friendly. Every part of the building and grounds are spotlessly clean and well-maintained. There are numerous activities every day and many field trips off the property. Well-balanced, attractive meals are served in a formal dining rooom with linens and floral arrangements on the tables. The facility has separate units for self-sufficient seniors, those with some dementia, and seniors whose dementia is quite advanced. Residents must be sufficiently mobile to get out of bed and walk with a cane or walker in order to live there. All rooms have half-baths and showers and whirlpools are spotlessly clean and have sturdy safety bars. Seniors with memory problems and behavioral issues (as long as they are not a danger to themselves or others) will be safely and kindly cared for here. The neighnborhood is an older one, in places not well-maintained. The RPH campus is extremely safety-conscious and I am perfectly comfortable having my frail 93-year-old father living there. The facility has all the features of similar more costly suburban residences, with a special "homey" feeling. We are grateful to have found such an ideal setting for my dad. Pros: Staff, Activities, Attractiveness and Cleanliness of Facility, Reasonable Cost, Centrally Located, Good mix of men and women. Cons: Surrounding neighborhood is not as nice as the facility more

Owner Message
  • The Rochester Presbyterian Home has been serving Elders since 1925.
Our founders believed it was our mission to provide
a safe and happy haven for persons in their sunset years.
Today, we continue that tradition at three Eden Alternative residences and have earned a reputation for excellence.
    Our philosophy of care
We believe in the dignity and value of each individual and promote acceptance and respect for all people. Our residents are the Elders in our families. By virtue of their age and wisdom, we look to them to define lifestyles that are rewarding and homes that are truly home.
As Eden Alternative residences, we are committed to building human habitats that are full of life. Residents plant and tend our gardens and pursue useful roles within each home. We have adopted several pets and Elders may share a room with their animal companions. We welcome children and embrace each Elders family as our own.
Our three residences are organized into Eden families. The purpose of each family is to build relationships between Elders and their partners in care. We believe that caring relationships make life meaningful and assure that Elders and staff feel like they belong-like family.
As our founders intended, it is our mission to assure that the sunset years are fulfilling and we are committed to making each of our residences truly safe and happy havens.. Assisted Living,Alzheimer's/Dementia Care,Respite (Temporary) Care
