Really enjoyed our de-stress weekend 6/15/2011

My husband and I really enjoyed our de-stress weekend at the Mariott Hotel in Rochester, MN. For a special weekend leisure rate, we were in a large room with king size bed, couch, side chair, cocktail table and a desk which rolls out to become a dining table. After years of business travel, I know hotel beds are usually the weakness! At the Marriott, the bed is very comfortable and equipped with your choice of soft or firm down pillows--not 8 inches of foam. An All American breakfast was promptly delivered to our room (not included in the weekend rate). There's a pool, work-out room, bar, restaurant and the hotel is walking distance to shopping and other restaurants as well as Mayo Clinic. more

OMG I love it! 5/26/2011

We stayed at the Marriott last July and are returning once again this July! When I arrived in Minneapolis after a flight from NY, I was really tired and the Rochester Direct shuttle brought us to the Marriott late morning around 11:00 a.m. Although, check in time was 3 p.m. we telephoned enroute from the shuttle with a request for early check in. When we arrived, a clean room was ready for us! On the day we checked out, we still had a final appointment at 12:30 p.m. returning to the room only after 1:30 p.m. We were offered the option to check out late with no additional costs! We were informed this is their standard service to patients. This Marriott is extremely accommodating to their Mayo patient guests. It was quiet with clean air in spite of some construction with a lot of dust going on out on the streets. We were given a room above the lobbey area where most of the patients stayed. We liked the convenience of being attached to Mayo Clinic and other venues via both the skyway and under-ground with just an elevator ride away. The food in the Lobby restaurant was quite gourmet and very tasty, although definitely not cheap as in Kahler Grand next door. The atmosphere is totally different too and definitely more peaceful with fine dining services. The bar area is filled with Mayo professionals and very peaceful with easy listining music. The room service was out of this world with a roll- away table fully decked with cloth service! The room as always is the case with Marriott - pretty comfortable; bed, luxurious with new comfortable mattress covered by allergen proof covers, feather quilts and pillows, plenty of extras, everything in working order, etc. The bell boy brought us free water bottles with ice on our first day although the hotel does offer water bottles in the room for a fee. We had negotiated the rate via priceline's half price and were fortunate enough to have our $115 a night rate accepted! This year however, we ended up paying a bit more than half price ( full price was $249 and we paid $145 per night) still worth every penny! I would not even think of staying at any other hotel!!! more

Great Staff! 5/12/2011

We stayed here while I was a patient at the Clinic, and our stay was 7 days. We had chosen this hotel due to the nice reviews here and the somewhat negative tone of the Kahler reviews. Then we found a great rate on Expedia that included breakfast for 2 each morning, which made it all the nicer. Arrival was great! Fast checkin with a wonderfully nice lady, and we had our keys within 3 minutes. As soon as we reached our room, the phone rang. It was the front desk wondering if we would like a room on a different floor, as there was to be a function with a live band on our floor that night. We did, and we were moved to a higher floor. The room is quite large, apart from the bathroom. IF you like large bathrooms than this is not the place for you. The room had a king bed with an adjacent sitting area including a fold-out couch, a chair, a coffee table and a relatively large desk. There was a flat screen HD TV but no high def channels, unfortunately and no DVD player. Maid service was spectacular!! Room was clean as a whistle with a lot of little nice touches in the bathroom area. The buffet breakfast was very good and varied. Loved the oatmeal, into which you could put a variety of dried or fresh fruit and granola. The staff were universally friendly and helpful. Overall a top-notch stay with no complaints. Would definitely stay here again. more

Service was great! Room was excellent! 5/3/2011

I traveled to Rochester to see my niece take the lead role in the local high school musical and wanted to avoid staying on the couch and relatives at my brother’s house. Figuring Rochester would be quiet on the weekend I checked into the Marriott attached to the Mayo Medical Center. Little did I know Rochester was filled with families for wrestling, volleyball and even table tennis tournaments. Even though the hotel was jammed, it was peaceful and the beds were so comfortable I wanted to strap in on the roof of my SUV and take it home. Service was great, I was in an out in a matter of minutes. The room was spacious, spotless, with a generous bathroom, sure beats my brother’s home and barking dog. more
