Clean Room 8/9/2011

We stayed at the Marriott last July and are returning once again this July! Although, check in time was 3 p.m. we telephoned enroute from the shuttle with a request for early check in. When we arrived, a clean room was ready for us! On the day we checked out, we were offered the option to check out late with no additional costs! We were informed this is their standard service to patients. This Marriott is extremely accommodating to their Mayo patient guests. It was quiet with clean air in spite of some construction with a lot of dust going on out on the streets. We were given a room above the lobbey area where most of the patients stayed. We liked the convenience of being attached to Mayo Clinic and other venues via both the skyway and under-ground with just an elevator ride away. The food in the Lobby restaurant was quite gourmet and very tasty, although definitely not cheap as in Kahler Grand next door. The atmosphere is totally different too and definitely more peaceful with fine dining services. The bar area is filled with Mayo professionals and very peaceful with easy listining music. The room service was out of this world with a roll- away table fully decked with cloth service! The room as always is the case with Marriott - pretty comfortable; bed, luxurious with new comfortable mattress covered by allergen proof covers, feather quilts and pillows, plenty of extras, everything in working order, etc. The bell boy brought us free water bottles with ice on our first day although the hotel does offer water bottles in the room for a fee. We had negotiated the rate via priceline's half price and were fortunate enough to have our $115 a night rate accepted! I would not even think of staying at any other hotel!!! more

Great location! 8/8/2011

The hotel is very centrally located in the Downtown with sky way access to a number of shops as well as restaurants. The room was well appointed and comfortable, the bed especially so. There was an additional sink and vanity in this room outside the bathroom which was very nice for us as we got ready in the morning. more

Very Helpful 8/2/2011

Parking in this hotel is a block away. I'd advise parking in the ramp off Broadway and 2nd. This hotel is connected underground with mayo which is very helpful. I was there in summer, but if you are there in the winter/fall this is a big plus. more

Great Location 7/12/2011

This hotel is in a great location for Mayo Clinic patients. We did not have to go outside in the cold January weather to get from our hotel to the Clinic appointments!! Our room was very clean, and the hotel staff was courteous and friendly. more

Accommodating Hotel 7/11/2011

The hotel was very accommodating of our needs as a patient at Mayo clinic. more

Love! 7/6/2011

This is one of the best hotels I myself Love! The location is great. The service is well done. I got work to get done and the location is perfect. Not to far away from business. The service is just as well done. Thank you Rochester Marriott more

Very Convenient 7/5/2011

The hotel is part of the Mayo Clinic complex, very convenient, connected to Rochester by Skyways and Subways. more

Enjoyed our weekend 6/27/2011

My husband and I really enjoyed our de-stress weekend at the Mariott Hotel in Rochester, MN. For a special weekend leisure rate, we were in a large room with king size bed, couch, side chair, cocktail table and a desk which rolls out to become a dining table. After years of business travel, I know hotel beds are usually the weakness! At the Marriott, the bed is very comfortable and equipped with your choice of soft or firm down pillows--not 8 inches of foam. An All American breakfast was promptly delivered to our room (not included in the weekend rate). There's a pool, work-out room, bar, restaurant and the hotel is walking distance to shopping and other restaurants as well as Mayo Clinic. more

Caters very well 6/24/2011

My mom and I brought my blind father in a wheelchair to Mayo for a 2nd opinion on his terminal cancer. The convenience of the Marriott allowed us to return to our rooms (adjoining on the 8th floor) and rest between his morning and afternoon appointments. I travel a lot, spending more than 160 nights a year in hotels and so I tend to select the high end hotels for comfort. Regarding some negative, earlier reviews, this is not an appropriate hotel for a hockey team or any tournament team trip. This is a hotel for people who are ill, and it caters to them very well. Kids running up and down the halls, overflowing into common spaces, and talking loudly outside rooms is just not appropriate for this hotel setting. We did get bored with the identical menu every single day, but most customers probably stay fewer days than we did. We thoroughly enjoyed the amenities of the concierge floor, having cocktails and hors d'oeuvres nightly. While our trip does not reflect the thrifty end of the spectrum, Mayo patients seeking luxury, convenience, and outstanding service should definitely stay here or at the Kahler. more

Great Hotel 6/20/2011

Great hotel for anyone visiting staying in Rochester. We stayed during a youth sports tournament so the hotel was busy but rooms were quiet and very comfortable. Staff helpful and friendly but could have used a few more in light of heavy traffic. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel. more

stay here 6/13/2011

As a Mayo patient, I stayed here for two nights. I had great service, a clean room, fast internet, and overall great experience. I will be staying there again in a few months. I thought it was pricey, but I found out that the entire city is pricey because of Mayo. It is a lot nicer than some other nearby hotels though. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a nice hotel close to Mayo. if you want a clean room, nice people, stay here. more

Clean and well - equipped 5/24/2011

"Very conveniently located hotel if you have to get to Mayo Clinic. They gave us the 7 floor. The 8 and 9 are key-activated. Our room overlooked the pool. The first night the kids had a great time. The second day we did not use the pool. But we could see a party of some sort going on. The check-in was smooth. We used the valet parking. They charge a bit for it. The entire underground tunnels are called subways :-). We could get breakfast and then walk over to the Mayo Clinic tour. In winter I am sure this is a great advantage. I would definitely recommend this hotel. I was there with the 2 kids and they had absolutely no problems. Could walk to any place. The Barnes and Noble across the street was decorated like a Normandy village! Room cleaning is done at a later time I guess. The room was not cleaned at 2pm when we came in to get something. But at 4 when my husband came in he said it was all clean. The front desk immediately sent up a razor and shaving cream when we asked where the pharmacy was to buy razors! * Liked — Clean and well-equipped.Close to almost all local restaurants and bars and ofcourse the hospitals. * Disliked — LIked the hotel. Perfect location 5/17/2011

This hotel is in a perfect location for out-of-towners going through the Mayo Clinic. Inside passage all the way. Room very nice, clean, room service fast, excellent, responsive. But apparently antiquated plumbing. Took at least 10 minutes to get even lukewarm water, and it never got hot. Slightly warmer in the washbowl. Realize hotel may have governor on water to avoid scalding, but this was way,way below that kind of temp. Tub/shower tiles need re-grouting. Plenty of nice bathtowels. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Maybe just some work necessary in the boiler room? Would stay there again, probably, but only if we can get a "deal" such as the one we got this time through Priceline. Their rack rate of $249 is too high for a room without a good supply of hot water. more

Friendly and Helpful 5/5/2011

"We stayed here while I was a patient at the Clinic, and our stay was 7 days. We had chosen this hotel due to the nice reviews here and the somewhat negative tone of the Kahler reviews. Then we found a great rate on Expedia that included breakfast for 2 each morning, which made it all the nicer. Arrival was great! Fast checkin with a wonderfully nice lady, and we had our keys within 3 minutes. As soon as we reached our room, the phone rang. It was the front desk wondering if we would like a room on a different floor, as there was to be a function with a live band on our floor that night. We did, and we were moved to a higher floor. The room is quite large, apart from the bathroom. IF you like large bathrooms than this is not the place for you. The room had a king bed with an adjacent sitting area including a fold-out couch, a chair, a coffee table and a relatively large desk. There was a flat screen HD TV but no high def channels, unfortunately and no DVD player. Maid service was spectacular!! Room was clean as a whistle with a lot of little nice touches in the bathroom area. The buffet breakfast was very good and varied. Loved the oatmeal, into which you could put a variety of dried or fresh fruit and granola. The staff were universally friendly and helpful. Overall a top-notch stay with no complaints. Would definitely stay here again. " more

I've stayed here several times when visiting the Mayo Clinic on business. Staff are efficient and considerate. The breakfast is excellent. more

Spacious 4/27/2011

I traveled to Rochester to see my niece take the lead role in the local high school musical and wanted to avoid staying on the couch and relatives at my brother’s house. Figuring Rochester would be quiet on the weekend I checked into the Marriott attached to the Mayo Medical Center. Little did I know Rochester was filled with families for wrestling, volleyball and even table tennis tournaments. Even though the hotel was jammed, it was peaceful and the beds were so comfortable I wanted to strap in on the roof of my SUV and take it home. Service was great, I was in an out in a matter of minutes. The room was spacious, spotless, with a generous bathroom, sure beats my brother’s home and barking dog. more
