My boyfriend and I were hoping to rent an apartment here in Louisville. We fell in love with this delightful two bedroom that seemed like the perfect fit for us. When my boyfriend spoke with Mr. Adleberg he was told that based on our relationship status and the fact that the jobs we both have we haven't had for over two years, our deposit was going to be over two grand. When I called Mr. Adleberg to get the details on why this was the case and to explain my side of things, he first went on a very long rant about politics and laws and then proceeded to continually insult me. He made side comments suggesting that I wasn't educated as well as that I was selfish because of my age. (""It's not your fault, it's just that you are young and you are only thinking about yourself and don't care about how your decisions affect anyone else."") I was thoroughly insulted but tried to keep a clear head and a professional manner. When I tried to explain that I had gone from one job I was at for well over a year directly to another because at the previous job I was robbed and no longer felt safe he stated that he couldn't make any exceptions especially because I was white. By the end of the conversation he allowed me to get in three or four sentences before he ended the conversation by stating ""Well that's fine. If you want to sue me than go ahead, it's happened plenty of times before. We just won't have to suffer through the misery of having you as a tenant."" He then disconnected the call. I wasn't speaking in an aggressive tone at all and had mentioned nothing about suing him. More than anything I want to warn all potential renters of how rude this man can be. Beware! Mr. Adleberg was my Landlord for 7 years. My husband and I never had trouble. He was always respectful and friendly. Mr. Adelberg tries to get a good fit in his buildings - neighbors that will get along, not play loud music into the night. I respect that and appreciate that someone is looking out for me. I have leaved in Jefferson County all my life. I wanted to rent from Roberts company. I met him at one of his appartments and we started talking. I asked how much the cost was and he started to yell at me. Then after that he preached to me that I didn't no squat. This ticked me off..... BADLY.... Finnally I started to tell him I'm leaving. Then he got even mader calling me and my friends name. Then he threw water at my face. From his mouth. ty Not a man to mess around with. Never rent from Him EVER!!! He is absolutely the worst realtor and landlord, I have ever had to deal with. Robert Adelberg is very rude, and has no customer service skills what so ever. He treats his tenants like garbage and does not take care of the apartments like they should be taken care of. When something needs to be fixed he doesn't fix it and when you have any type of problem he blames everything on you, so that he doesn't have to solve it. He is rude, and uses inappropriate language towards his tenants. He is also a person that goes by the color of your skin to judge you and discriminates against you accordingly. My roommate and I had our bathroom ceiling cave in due to a leak in the apartment above and it took them over four weeks to fix it (and the work only took four consecutive days). However when we complained that we did not have a properly functioning bathroom for four weeks and were at the mercy of our friends to use their bathrooms--the owner, Robert Adelberg actually screamed at us and accused us of trying to take advantage of him and being greedy for asking for a discount in rent for that month. He would not listen to our complaints but insulted us in every way, calling me an expletive and had a few choice names for my roommate as well. He also preached to us that we did not know how to run a business and that he is actually not in the real estate business for profit (!). The actual phone conversation was taped, so if you want to hear how unreasonable he is to actually deal with, the conversation should be on Youtube in the near future. Just search for his name. The apartments are attractive enough and I've felt safe living here but if you have any problems, don't expect the landlord to take care of them in a time efficient manner.
