Robben's Roost Roller Rink 3/31/2006

I am writing my review of Robben's Roost Roller Rink on Six Mile Lane in Louisville, KY. I brought my son here for a party last weekend, it was our first time here. Although my son had some fun, I was disappointed overall with the setup and the limited availability of what they had at this roller rink. Let me explain, yes there was a big rink to skate on which was fun, but there were only bars on the side (against the wall) for children who are just learning to skate on some parts of the rink, that was disappointing. If they cannot have bars around the entire course of the rink then I don't understand why they don't have smaller rink for the smaller children to practice in without having to worry about getting run over by the bigger kids speeding around the rink. Most roller rinks I have been to in the past always had a small rink as well as a big one. This is the first place I have been that only had one rink. Another thing that was disappointing was the arcade/food area. It was all crammed into a corner. Aout 4 video games against a wall right near the bathrooms and in that same area was the concession stand which served hot dogs, pizza, pretzels, nachos etc. But there are no tables to sit and eat your food at. There is one long "community type" table in the middle but you would have to stand there on your skates holding on to the table trying to eat and then there are benches along the wall where everyone is just crammed together sitting next to people they don;t even know trying to eat their food. This was ridiculous. Also, when I used the bathroom, there was no hand soap, instead there was a sign informing me that "hand soap was available at the front desk", I totally did not understand how they would expect someone after using the bathroom to have to roller skate all the way over to the front desk (other side of roller rink) to get some soap and then roller skate back to the bathroom to wash their hands. Over all, this place may be a little fun for kids, but they relaly should make some major improvements, and think about the younger kids and the parents as well. I feel it is made more for teenagers. Not very impressed. more
