Worst

There wine list is impressive, but that's about it. Service was on par with the type of restaurant it is, but the food is to expensive for the quality they claim to have. Pros:...

Overrated 12/8/2003

I usually agree with the Citysearch ratings, but I really have to disagree with this one. I have eaten here several times and had the same experience. The food is good, not great. The wine list is limited to Texas and California only and is unimpressive. The cocktails are very poor -- made with cheap mixers. I have wanted to like this place because it has a great atmosphere and is very convenient for those of us who work downtown, but everytime I go I wish I had gone somewhere else. Pros: atmosphere Cons: so so food, terrible drinks more

The screaming butter knife 8/13/2003

For the amount of money you pay for a nice dining experience is not worth the lousy service. The waiters seem to walk around in a daze. They don't seem to know much about the food they are serving or even where they are. The place is so-so, and you can find the same dishes in other nice restaurants downtown. Pros: good food Cons: lousy service more

Great new restaurant in the scene. The service was outstanding and the wait staff were very well trained and knowledgeable about items on the menu. Very good regional wine selection, from moderate to expensive. Relaxingdecor, not too stuffy. Great for large parties for dinner, bar is also a good place to hang out, Hope this place will be around for a while. Pros: service, menu selection, quality more

Great Lunch 6/25/2003

I brought a group of first time to Texas visitors from Minneapolis to the Roaring Fork yesterday and they loved everything about the restaurant. We have dined at several great Austin restaurants this week but plan to spend our last evening back at the Roaring Fork. Pros: Food, Drinks, Service more

roar for the fork 5/30/2003

didn't expect much, but was under peer pressure to go. i was pleasantly surprised by the service and really enjoyed the food. my duck was deliciously moist and tasty. the wine list is easy to read and offers some gems. more

Nice 4/17/2003

Nice place, looks like its been there forever. Only had appetizers and drinks in the bar, due to time constraints. Will be back to sample the rest. Great place to go before going to the Paramount. Pros: location, food Cons: will get busy soon more
