As a kid, my parents took me here, and the place was an absolute dump. However, I was in the Kennebunkport area last spring and, (surprisingly,) saw the campground was still running. I stopped in, and found the new owner working in the office. I told her about the place before she bought it, and she explained to me some of the improvements they were trying to make. My girlfriend and I decided to give it a go for ""old time's sake;"" (her family used to stay at a campground up the road, around the same time I stayed at Riverside... Small world...) In all honesty, we found the place very enjoyable. While the sites were smaller than some in the area, what else is to be expected from a campground running at half their rates? The small bathroom near our site was the same one from when I was a kid; apparently, the town won't let the new owner tear down the building or put up a new one, due to zoning- (her words, not mine.) The people staying here were friendly, the store had some random items, but supplied everything we needed but obviously forgot: batteries, bug spray, soda and ice, saving us a trip to the convenience store. The pool looked like it had been redone recently, and was very clean, along with the office and new showers. When I last visited, an old trailer was there. Now, however, there are five or six showers, and very modern bathrooms. Everytime I went to the bathroom, they were being, or had just been, cleaned. Very few complaints here. My girlfriend and I have already decided we'd be back, if not just to see what kinds of improvements have been made. Highly recommended.
