Editorial review from Citysearch 7/2/2012

As a patient for NINE (9) years, I can tell you more about Dr. Rivera than probably anyone on this board. Dr. Edmundo Rivera, MD, is the epitome of a consummate professional in every sense of the word. Dr. Rivera is fully Board Certified and Accredited in Psychiatry, but I've gotten to see just how WIDE his range of expertise goes. Dr. Rivera also completed MD studies as an internist prior to selecting his specialty in Psychiatry -- a breadth of knowledge which allows him to better treat his patients when the problem is not merely limited to Psychological, as often is the case: there is neurological or other system involvement. This is very difficult to find in a Psychiatrist, and it's amazing to have someone of Dr. Rivera's abilities as a health-care provider: In my case, problems which eluded the diagnosis and treatment of other providers were quickly identified by Dr. Rivera, and have been successfully treated now for a decade. I also notice that Dr. Edmundo Rivera is very much current with the most up-to-date studies and literature. The result is that the best-proven and cutting-edge treatments are well known to Dr. Rivera, who is then well-qualified to make the tough judgment call on the efficacy of a given treatment regimen for a specific patient with a specific set of symptoms. Dr. Rivera is always courteous and concerned, and he is direct in his questioning -- skilled at homing in on the causes of issues. I am relieved to know my care is in his competent hands. You can find positive and negative reviews on any physician, but if you read mine, you can tell that I've gotten to know this provider, and have seen the large differences that can happen when a doctor is as involved as Edmundo Rivera, MD. My thanks goes to Dr. Rivera and the courteous and helpful staff. more

The greatest doctor and staff 10/17/2011

Saved my life is an understatement. Since going to Dr. Riveria my quality of life has improved to a state i thought i could never reach. Very easy to communicate with and an excellent listener. Witch are key to recieving help on such sensitive matters. His vast knowledge of medications that best suits each individual is impecable. The office could not be any better. When a day is dark just walking into the office with Mellisa and Sara brightens the day with there wonderful, pleasant dimeanor. I have recommended this office to several friends and relatives and have heard nothing but great things in return. more

Good Doctor - Office staff impedes treatment 1/20/2011

I had a very good experience with Dr. Rivera himself - when I could get to speak with him directly. I attempted to have his wife relay a message to the doctor, which resulted in her misunderstanding the message and she took it upon herself to terminate me as a patient. I know this because I was not put on hold, and there was no opportunity for her to consult with Dr. RIvera. I asked if she had a medical degree that allowed her to make that decision - to which she said (in a very defensive manner) ""No, I am the office manager, and that's what gives me the authority to make that call."" It leaves me very saddened and hopeless-feeling as I try to find another doctor right after my proper medication has been abruptly cut-off. I am beside myself that she can do that to the doctor's patients. Great doctor - if you see him, I strongly suggest that you to only deal with Sarah in the front office! more

Good Doctor-Bad Office Staff 1/20/2010

I've had no problems with Dr. Rivera, except for his office staff. Sarah, the main receptionist is easy to get along with and efficient. His wife fills in sometimes and she is very rude and unprofessional. Very unfortunate for Dr. Rivera. Pros: Dr. Rivera is a good doctor. Cons: Very long wait times and the office staff is the worst. more

A doctor and staff that care 9/1/2008

I have been a patient of Dr Rivera's for over 1 year, and he is the best doctor I have ever been to. He listens and assists you in making decisions that are right for you. His office staff is friendly and very helpful, you can clearly see they do this to help people not just about the money. WIth the storm damage that they have suffered they are trying to get back on their feet, I hope that all works well for them and as a patient I will help any way I can. Pros: great service Cons: because he listens and ensures he makes the right diagnosis it takes a bit longer for patients to get back to him, but he treats everyone equal so you will get the same respect. more

better than most 5/3/2006

A lot of psychiatrists today are "" pill pushers"" but this doctor really is patient oriented and extremely intelligent. There are times when u have somewhat of a wait, but I still feel this doctor and office are much better than most practicing psychiatrists. Pros: Adequate parking, comfortable wait room Cons: wait time more
