River Oaks Center for Dentistry

After reading the excellent reviews this dentist received I decided to check it out, especially since I live right behind their new office. Needless to say, I was disappointed. I first called to make an appointment to have an appliance in my mouth fixed. They told me that they could indeed fix my mouth, undestanding that this was a semi-emergency. \r On the day of the appointment, I was greeted with very friendly staff, and I met with a consultant about estimated costs- which was helpful. I was soon brought back where I sat in a chair for about 15 minutes for a staff to eventually come in and ask what I needed to have done, although I had just gone over everything with the first staff. I was then told that I needed to come back at a future date to get the work done- although I had specifically made an appointment stating my specific request, and had told the receptionist and 'estimator' of the work that I need done Needless to say, I was very frustrated at this point since I made an appointment, spoke to 3 people about my problem, and waited at this point 45 minutes for someone to tell me I need to schedule another appointment to have an actual dentist fix my teeth. I had taken off work to attend this appointment when someone could have easily told me this information on the phone, or scheduled a dentist to begin with. After explaining my frustration to them, a dentist came to look at my teeth and told me that I needed a new appliance and that the cost will be 4 times more than what the estimate said. I understood that the estimate was made without looking at my teeth, so that was fine, although not good news. I told them that I just wanted my mouth fixed, even if it is temporary- and at that moment someone suddenly came in and reduced the quoted price by a fourth if I became their patient. I'm all for incentives but I just didnt have a good feeling about them at this point. I told them I would think about it, and left with my broken piece still broken in my mouth. \r Maybe it was my fault for walking into this dentist office with such high-expectations. If you need something fixed, or even work done, I would not recommend this place. I did not have teeth whitening or any cosmetic work done so I can not attest to that work. However, after wasting 1.5 hours to have absolutely no work done it seems as if they are not in it to help anyone, but to make money. I'm not sure who wrote the reviews I read before but they all sound a little too familiar. I will not be coming back. more

I'm sorry if I accidently wrote a favorable review for someone else.\r \r I have the luxury of being privied to who's who and who's good and who's great in the world of cosmetic dentistry as I've owned and operated my own local dental practice for 22 years before retiring in 2004. With that stated, Dr. Barbara Johnson's Cosmetic Dental Center - Dentiq is simply... ""As Good As It Gets!!""\r \r \r I have referred dozens of patients, friends and family, and each and everyone of them have only had the most endearing words to describe their experience. If you are interested in a full mouth reconstruction or porcelain dental veneers, be sure that you find a qualified cosmetic dentist, such as Dr. Johnson, before investing in your image. more

If you're into doing research before you elect a dental provider, you'll see what I saw.... that Dentiq Cosmetic Dentistry In Houston has been voted a best cosmetic dentist office by tons of publications. What I didn't know was that tons of other people are extremely grateful for the stellar service they experienced at Dentiq too. Wow!\r \r Not like it's any real news but I too want to experess my sentiments to Dr. Johnson by letting everyone know that I too vote her the best cosmetic dentist in Houston. She did my porcelain veneers and my smile looks like I feel inside... beautiful! more

I had always wanted to correct my teeth. I had always wanted to be able to give a presentation in front of my peers, hang out in a social situation or just be care free on a date but I was holding back because I wasn't proud of my smile.\r \r Not any more! Finally, I feel like I can be my true self for all of my worth and potential. Thank you so, so, so much Dr. Johnson. And, I hope this isn't an old website because it still says River Oaks.... I couldn't find the Dentiq one. Pros: They have every specialist there - no referral required. Cons: I paid a bit more than I had budgeted. Beauty has its price. more

I did extensive research on quality dentsits here in Houston and was repetitively led back to River Oaks Center for Dentistry and Dr. Barbara Johnson. I was anticipating the need for an extraction and perhaps an implant. Upon arriving at this office I was greeted like I might be at a good friends house. I was offered refreshments and had virtually no wait time. Dr. Johnson treated me with respect and grand care as she educated me on exactly what was to be expected and the process to get the result that I wanted step by step. The staff & assistants provided me with visual images of my teeth & xrays that made this education easy for anyone to comprehend. Not only did Dr. Johnson exhibit amazing gentleness and care when performing my extraction, but also placed my implant at the same time, eliminating a second surgery altogether! Dr. J also did the final restoration on the implant once it had healed (I have learned that most dentists do not have the clinical knowledge to both surgically place implants and restore them with crowns as well). This prevented me from having to bounce between two offices during this whole process. I am in love with this office! Every person in this office is made of gold! Pros: Down to earth Dentist that speaks in terms I can understand! Cons: I am just now finding Dr. Johnson! more

This place is freakn amazing. I've always hated going to the dentist. So, when i arrived, i noticed a refrigerator full of frosty beverages (they had my red bul!). Yess. They greet you like a botique hotel & build a custom profile for me as I picked out a DVD (Dane Cook). I've never been so at relaxed at the Dentists. -- it was like being at the Ritz w a little flair. I actually look forward to it now, and Dr. Johnson & Ursula are halarious. Thank ya'll so much for treating me & my family like family... or should I say, a really good friends :) We all get free teeth whitening for life & we get so many compliments. Thanks guys. Pros: easy parking. very comfortable. they're a differnt crowd than you would expect to see at the dentists. and, dr. johnson is strong for a little woman, but surprisingly gentle. she's got the touch. Cons: i didn't get to finish watching my movie more
