A friend and I dined at the River Bank on January 27,2011. We had a coupon from Restaurant.com for $25 off. When we got there, there was no one to seat us. We waited 5 minutes until the manager, Lucie, came in. No apology, just walks past us to help someone she knew (who got there after us). She tells us to "sit anywhere" and brings us menus and we thank her - no response. We order an appetizer and sodas. We never got the sodas. Ten minutes later, I walk up to the bar and say "We ordered sodas - a regular and a diet." She says "I'll get them." No apology or anything. Every time she brings us something, we thank her. She never once said "you're welcome". When she did bring things, she would pass them over the railing instead of walking around to put them on the table. While waiting for our entrees, we asked for refills on our sodas. Our pitcher of water was also almost empty. About halfway through this debacle, a waiter finally arrives. Lucie doesn't say "So-and-so will be helping you now" or anything. He just shows up at our table. Not his fault since she obviously didn't bother to fill him in. She never brought our refills, so we had to ask the waiter (who, by the way, also doesn't respond when we say "thank you" - am I missing something?). By the way, sodas are $3 for a small glass and they charge for refills. We got our entrees, and while mine was delicious, my friend's steak was overcooked. We order dessert and finish it and it takes a while for the waiter to clear the plates. Most restaurants, once you have finished dessert, will have the check ready but ask you if you want anything else. Not the River Bank. We waited another 5 minutes or so and finally had to ask the waiter for the check. I give him my card and Lucie brings the receipt over for me to sign and says "Thank you." This time, I was the one not to respond. A 15% gratuity was added to the bill (a condition of the coupon) that I feel was not deserved. All in all, we spent $80 (after coupon) for good food but horrible service.
