This is the one of the greatest cafes in San Marcos. I miss the days I used to live within walking distance, but I do stop in when I am driving through San Marcos. The yummy menu is heavily based on the Lord of the Rings series, of which the owners are clearly fans. The inside of the restaurant is very garden like, with a big fat tree in the center of the dining area. Theme aside, their food is just great. It's mainly sandwiches, salads, soup and desserts. My favorite are the egg salad sandwiches served on miniature homemade rolls and the banana pudding. Sigh. Get there if you can. Call about the hours, because they may be a little erratic.
