First time visitor, Went with some friends and business associates to the beach to relax and socialize. There was a black female at the bar who was charged more than she was supposed to. I watched her try to get the waitress' attention in vain. From where I was standing, all she wanted to do was get this corrected. After a few minutes with no response, she said she was not going to tip her and on the receipt, she wrote ""rude bitch"" and left.
I was able to buy some drinks from another waiter and as I walked over to my group with all these drinks in hand, a white male approached me and asked me to step outside with him. At first, I thought he was trying to talk to me and I ignored him but then he could not leave and insisted I go with him. I said I was not going unless he was or had a police officer with him. He left and came back with an officer within minutes and I was ungracefully thrown out of the club without cause.
When I insisted I was not leaving before being told what I did, they said I was rude and needed to go before I found myself in jail. I ended up talking to 5 white police officers and two managers who stopped and listened to me but didn't to anything at all. They told me to leave or I would be arrested. I eventually saw another black community officer and explained what had happened and he tried to talk to management but was told to keep out of it and they had a right to deny service to anyone.
As a business establishment, i respect their right to refuse service but they don't have the right to treat people so poorly. The black female came outside and when she realized what was going on, she walked over to management and attempted to explain what happened but they told her they didn't have time for this. The manager walked over to me and said, "" your kind is not welcome here so why don't you just go back where you came from"". One may argue that he meant the kind of people who cause trouble but no one one would blame me if i thought by ""kind"" he meant black people. I was not allowed to have the drinks I had paid and nor was I refunded the money I spent.
I am very upset and want to share this experience with others because ignorance like this is what keeps America segregated. I mean the only reason I was thrown out was not because I was drunk, disorderly, fighting or anything but simply because I was black. Confusing me with someone else is understandable but treating someone so inhumanly after the situation has been corrected is not acceptable, Didn't realize you could be thrown out for being rude, I mean, most people would have been thrown out for that reason so why was I singled out and kicked out?
Pros: Can't think of any
Cons: Poor service, treated differently if you are black,
