Rising Phoenix Tattoo

no stars!!! Dave (tattoo artist) is very arrogant, my new tatoo looks like the ink is faded as if i had it for years!! It looks awful! He said free touch up within the year, hell no never going back. more

I give them 0 stars. I got a tattoo from Dave here and he did a terrible job. The whole time he tattooed me he criticized my other tattoo saying he could have done a better job and told me it didn't look good at all. He made me extremely uncomfortable. My tattoo didn't even turn out good I was extremely dissatisfied. For such a simple design I thought he could've done a great job especially after all his criticisms about my other tattoo. I don't know if it's cheap ink or what but it faded within the first year and it's extremely raised. I had it looked at by another tattoo artist somewhere else and he said he went too deep into my skin with the needle which is why it's raised. I had a friend go there as well and her tattoo turned out the same, it was raised and she had to get it touched up within the first year because it was so faded. I would never recommend this place to anyone. The prices are outrageous and the work is mediocre. more

I recently got a tattoo from Rising Phoenix. It was my first tattoo and they made me feel very comfortable. One thing I noticed is everyone was smiling and laughing and that really made me feel at ease! I was scared but everyone assured me it would be over before I knew it. And it was! I absolutely love my tattoo - he did a fantastic job! He explained how to take care of it, gave me instructions, and told me to call if I had any questions. All in all, nice place, nice people, great tattoo, I will go again. more

Here's the thing... this is the only place that I have ever gotten a tattoo at.( I have 7 ) My latest one I got 10/4/09 by Dave. I went in two weeks prior to that to talk to him about what I wanted. He was understanding and totally took into concideration everything that I wanted. This last tattoo is the first real custom tattoo that I have and I am so totally overwhelmed with the work and detail that was put into it. Dave was completely professional and calmed any and all nerves that I had. Dave and Jamie put me completely at ease. I realize that many people expect something the minute they walk in the door but in a place like Rising Phoenix where they hire people based on skill and the love of their art, you might have to wait or hay concept, come back. If you want something not in the flash pages, then you have to expect that it will take time to make it what you want. This is something that is on your body FOREVER, do you really want someone who will just slap something on your skin and do a half ass job by someone who is in it for the money? I think not, that is why I feel that if you want someone who is understanding of the art of a tattoo and has knowledge of what they are doing RIsing Phoenix is the place to go. zero stars! I walked into this place one night looking for one of the tattoo artists to help me finalize a design for a tattoo I wanted. The moron I talked to was obviously not an artist and wanted me to find something similiar on the internet for him to trace. Are you kidding me? You're supposed to be an artist, anyone can trace. Then he explained to me about 5 reasons not to get the tattoo. Nice job buddy. So I took my design to Jade Dragon. Nicest guys ever! Willing to help with anything and walked out the same day with my new tat and I love it! I even talked to the guys at Jade Dragon about Rising Phoenix and they said they had been hearing terrible things about that place and that a lot of the actual artists were leaving. GO TO JADE DRAGON. DO NOT GIVE RISING PHOENIX ANY BUSINESS. Cons: supposed tattoo 'artists' are young punks that think they are too cool more

If you go anywhere else but rising phoenix your making a big mistake,,,they care about their work thats going on your body,,,,,so dont make a mistake,,,,visit there shop 1st,,,its a very clean shop,,,,,2nd they do custom work,,,cover ups ect....... more

rising phoenix is is definately the place in illinois to get a tat. they have a huge selection on hand, and if you have the patience to look through them all, there is bound to be something for everybody. i saw every age and every type come in, and i was only there a few hours. or if you have something in mind, they will happily do custom tattoos at no extra charge. dave drew my husband's and nothing was too complicated for him, and he was determined to get it exactly as my husband wanted it. he's an extremely talented artist, and i would recommend him to anyone, although i hear the rest of the artists on staff are just as awesome. if you have heard rumors about rudeness, they're not true. the owner can be a little surly at times, but was always helpful and polite. they are very in-demand and busy at times, so there are a few things you can do to avoid being on the recieving end of any frustrations. come prepared: if you have a custom tat in mind, drop it off before and be prepared to maybe have to come back later. the artists will give your drawing one hundred percent of their attention and give you exactly what you want, but that takes time. be patient and wait your turn. you may think they are ignoring you, but you'll be happy when their focus and single-mindedness is turned on you. they are extremely clean and the shop is very well-kept, and a couple of reapeat customers for peircing came in within the space of a couple hours, so i assume the piercing is excellent. the pricing is great- you can get twice the quality of jade dragon at almost half the price, even though they use only high-quality inks and equipment. so if you are looking for a great permanent piece of art, not butt-kissing and an alright tattoo, i wouldn't go anywhere else.
