Riscky's Barbeque Azle. Ave. 1/18/2012

My husband and I went to the Azle ave. location as we have many times before... he loves Risckys burgers and he had no complaints... however I ordered for the first time beef ribs, beans and fried okra... the ribs were dry, and tough, and not much meat on them... they were disgusting couldn't eat them, the beans were good, but cold, the okra was perfect I expected better from Riskeys what a dissapointment... oh and the texas toast was dry and hard in spots it was disgusting.... also something needs to be done about those old dead animals hanging from the cealing and sitting on shelves made me want to puke looking at them they look like they are dirty and very old ( Good Grief) My husband loves to look at the animals but he even noticed how bad they looked!!! more

Best Chili by Block and GReat BBQ 6/1/2005

Its a quaint place in the middle of northside.. has antiques and u can eat there on picnic tables inside..Its only open until 7pm.. but most of their business is carry out or catering at this location.. I remember it when it was a real market with most the things u would find in a small town market.. My great grandmother used to carry me there.. and I am 57 now.. its a great place.. but their best kept secret is they make the best CHILI i ever tasted.. it comes when i buy it in blocks.. Very Very Meaty. Very delicious..if u like chili and havent tried theirs your missing out.. just found out they had it myself this year.. Its unlike any of their other locations..its mainly take out PROS: I cant say enough BEst I ever tasted Chili.. BBQ is excellent too CONS: It just doesnt stay open late enough.. closing at 7pm.. more

A Legend In Texas Barbecue Since 1927

Owner Message
  • In 1911, Polish immigrant Joe Riscky came to Fort Worth and went to work at Armour Packing Company in the Stock Yards for $9 a week. In 1912, he married fellow immigrant Mary Bunkervitch, and in 1927, they opened Riscky s Grocery and Market a few miles from the Stockyards. When they began offering lunches featuring their homemade barbeque, Cowtown loved it, and the Riscky family has been in the business ever since.
