Rigsby Frederick Salon & Gallery

My husband and I were treated to an outstanding spa treatment at Rigsby Frederick Spa for our 21st Wedding Anniversary this past July. It was an exhilirating experience, a very memorable one. It has been months since we vistited but I just had to make it my to duty to have this review posted! There was an awesome gallery, the employees had friendly and welcoming personlities, and I remember reading an article, from a magazine that was there, about how they helped the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Also we purchashed this lotion, Embrasse Moi, Ooohh my goodness...smells so good and leaves the skin extra soft!...i highly recommend it as well as visiting the Spa...im more than sure you will enjoy it --T & W C more

It was such a treat to be in the company of stylists who were truly artists! I encountered Rigsby thinking I was just visiting a hair dresser but quickly realized I was in the company of an artist who works with hair. Sarah was an exceptional makeup artist. Really amazing work. I have lived in New York and LA and have seen nothing better. I look forward to her doing makeup for my wedding. I found their work very elegant, subtle, and yet still modern. I will visit and enjoy them again and again for the unique ambiance, kind and fun personality and genuine skill I encounterd with them. more

I must agree, that stylists at this salon just want to get you out as quick as possible. I got horrible hair cut from Rigsby, (but very quick one- it's took about 20 minutes, my hair was not even washed before cutting). Pros: nice, artistic atmosphere Cons: not professional, more

Second-degree burn. I told the woman it was too hot. She glowered at me, turned the temperature down a touch, and immediately kept going. I was red and peeling for days. I've been getting waxes for years so I think I know what to expect. I should have asked for a complete refund, especially for how much I paid. I would first like to point at the the previous review by "sarahelizabeth", was posted by Mr. Rigsby Frederick's fiancee, Sarah Elizabeth Stockwell, an employee of the salon, and therefore cannot be viewed as independent. While I agree with most everything she has to say, her comments should be taken more as an advertisement than an honest review. It is a beautiful enviroment, Rigsby is a very talented artist, and his salon is his domain. Service employees are very well trained and always accomidating. Front desk employees are not necessarily on par. However, management is always willing to work with you if a mistake has been made regarding your appointment. I've had many services in the spa, and all have been wonderful. I especially love the facials (Kelly is the best and very knowledgable!). I suffered from acne for many years, nothing the dermatologist recommended ever helped, but when I had a series of glycolic peels and started on the Myrad line of products, I saw almost instant results! My main complaint about the spa, is that it only has 2 rooms (one massage room, one facial room), and therefore it is very difficult to get an appointment, or book a spa day. Another draw back is that right outside the spa waiting room is a very busy salon, it's quite a shock to walk out of a peaceful, relaxing massage into a bussling salon. Rigsby's clients also use the restroom in the spa as a changing room, so there are constantly people coming in and out while you're waiting for your services. Services providers are constantly running behind schedule, and can sometimes, however unintentionally, make you feel hurried out the door. Overall, Rigsby's is a great place to get you hair done, or a quick spa service, but for a truly relaxing experience, I'd go somewhere else. more

I was amazed to see such a beautifully handmade environment! This is no cookie- cutter place. The front desk staff seemed genuinely excited to show me around, explain my services and make me comfortable. I recieved the most relaxing massage I have ever experienced and awoke to recieve an aromatherapy steam shower complete with cold water to drink and a refreshing sliced juicy orange! I also experienced a French Facial and this is the only facial I have ever recieved (and I've had quite a few in many different parts of this country and Europe) in which the aesthetician worked on my back(cleansing, exfoliation and massage) and my feet! It is the best feeling to have a mask on your face and feel hot towels enveloping your feet! My skin has improved since following the aesthetician's take-home regime and she even touched-up my makeup (with a non pore clogging mineral line - Mineralogie) so I could leave the spa and directly go to work. Ideal spa recommendation: Rigsby Frederick Signature Massage, Steam Shower, French Facial, Shampoo and Style in the adjoining salon, and Makeup Application. Fantastic!! more

I love Rigsby Frederick Salon. I have gotten haircuts, highlights, coloring, facials, massages and I am going to my first wax there. The staff is so nice and everyone there is just kind and so caring. They seat you and offer you something to drink. The place is so clean and orderly. Rigsby is the nicest man and he makes you feel so welcome, even if you don't go to him for a haircut. He's still so nice to everyone. Everyone working at Rigsby Frederick is so talented and experienced. I have had the best services there. I would recommend anyone to go there for any service or treatment. You won't be disappointed. Pros: experienced staff and very nice atmosphere Cons: prices are a bit on the higher end, but definately worth it, you pay 4 what u get more

I love the spa at Rigsby's. The massages are great and the spa is in a separate area that is very tranquil away from the busy salon. I've had good luck with their more experienced stylists and bad experiences with their novices. Rigsby's cuts are good and last a long time - they always grow out nicely. Call a week or 2 ahead to get an appointment with him. However, once you become a return custer of his, he wlll do his best to fit you in even if you don't have an appointment. My only complaint is that when he cuts your hair, his trainees style you. If you have a special event, pay extra to have one of the better stylists blowdry and style your hair. more

Rigsby's is nice - however they are all about getting you in and getting you out. I've seen about 5 diff stylists there and they all barely ask you what you want done. Plus their stylists aren't great. after a few bad experiences, I wouldn't go back. Pros: Nice atmosphere and customer service Cons: average stylists. little personal attention. more

Everyone is nice in this busy, busy salon, but my stylist just didn't "get it" after a year, so I had to move on. more
