I had a double bunionectomy preformed by Dr. Eernisse in 2004. My feet have never been the same since the operation. She had the worst post-op care I have ever received. I was told I would be fine by December and walking comfortably. By December I couldn't even walk. She did not recommend physical therapy following surgery, in fact, she told me ""my feet would hurt worse"" with PT. I should never have listened to her. By January 2005, I had an orthopedic surgeon tell me that he could not believe what bad shape my feet were in. My feet were swollen, stiff and extremely sore. She also used a type of screw in both feet during the bunionectomies that my feet rejected. The orthopedic surgeon told me HE NEVER USES this type of material because there is a chance for this reaction - I was never warned about it by Dr.Eernisse and suffered because of it. I have had to have one of my feet re-done, but it will never be the same. I have met more and more people with the same type of horror stories about podiatrists doing surgery on their feet. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE A CHANCE. Please find an orthopedic surgeon - NOT A PODIATRIST. I am sorry that I did and have tried to warn as many people as I can about this doctor, as well as podiatrists in general.
