I was referred to Rick Hendrick by my mother who has bought three vehicles from the same salesman in the past. She called him and let him know I would be coming in to discuss a few cars I saw on their online inventory. When I came in the salesman in question asked me three different times how I knew the woman who referred me. When he finally listened to my answer, it dawned on him that I was younger than most and the service changed immensely. I told him about two different cars I looked at, but was not shown either one. Instead he took me to a vehicle that was 6k more than either of the two I was interested in originally. He also offered no explanation as to why he was not showing me the ones I was initially interested in.
He also asked me numerous times how much money I would be putting down on the vehicle even though my answer of "It depends on the trade-in value I get for my current car" never changed. After taking my ID and seeing my age, and running a credit check he asked so much if my mother would cosign on the purchase that it almost became an argument. I kept saying no, and eventually got so frustrated that I told him I would need to go home and sleep on the purchase, and give him a call.
The next day by noon he was calling to follow up. But he never once called me. He called my mother.
Because of my age and limited credit history, I was denied the ability to finance a purchase. But that's understandable and okay. In less than a year, I will have enough saved to purchase a car with cash, but because of poor customer service at Rick Hendrick I will be taking my business elsewhere.
