Richardson's Rock Ranch was the worst experience vacationing we ever had. We drove 1000 miles to this key destination and left within 20 minutes disappointed and upset, because of the rudeness of the owners.
We were aggressively reprimanded at the ""free"" dry camping area, due the owners insistence that were were incorrectly parked, despite no indication of a structured parking/camping system. (Just small grassy area, which by the way, children were not allowed to leave to explore the surrounding ranch area.)
Better of seeking the free sites in the area. Go to the Chamber of Commerce and get the rockhounding map.
Pros: lots of rocks
Cons: rocks are imported, local thundereggs are not great
