Pittsburgh's best Mexican food 4/13/2011

Of course, it's not super terribly hard to be Pittsburgh's best Mexican food, as there are so few Mexican restaurants in town. Still, coming from a person who moved to Pittsburgh from places that had TONS of Mexican restaurants, the city is lucky to have Rey Azteca as it's better than any of the numerous Mexican restaurants I used to eat at on the West Coast. From their awesome Burritos Mexicanos to their super good nachos and fajitas, Rey Azteca hasn't served me a bad dish yet, which is rare since I usually only like a couple things at restaurants. Even their pork burrito covered in green tamadillo sauce is great, and I've never liked anything with green sauce on it before. Rey Azteca's only real problem is that they're kind of set off the road a bit too much, otherwise it's the best Mexican food in town, better than El Campesino, which isn't bad in it's own right. more

Best Mexican food in town 1/16/2010

I've been going to Rey Azteca 1-2 times a months since it opened. I like to order different items from the great variety on the menu. I have never been disappointed. The food isn't Americanized tacos and nachos nor is it extremely spicy or hot. Everything I have ordered there has been delicious. I lived in Latin America for 8 years and enjoy trying different cultural foods. This is the best Mexican restaurant to come into this area. If you haven't tried it yet you are definitely missing out on a great thing. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are large. Not only is the food delicious but the wait staff are very friendly. They also now have alcoholic beverages available. The location is tucked away from the main shopping areas which may cause some people to overlook it. Hopefully more people will take the time to give it a try and keep this quality restaurant open for a long time to come. Love it! Pros: Wide variety, great taste, and good prices Cons: Location is somewhat hidden more
