Worst Hospital Ever 4/19/2011

I have been to Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC on 5 different occassions. The first 2, I needed fluids b/c I was dehydrated from non-stop vommitting during pregnancy. Both times, I waited over 2 hours before even my vitals were taken. The 3rd time I went to ER, I was having a gallbladder attack at 6 months pregnant. I was in horrible pain. Again it took almost an hour for me to even get in a room even though I was 6 months pregnant. Once I got in the room, I was seen once by a nurse and once by a doctor in a 6 hour time frame. I was crying, in the fetal position, and at times screaming in pain. After being seen once by a nurse, the doctor showed up in our sixth hour of being there with a single hydrocodone pill for me to take. When we left our room after 6 hours, it was without their release b/c they did not come to check on me and no nurses were to be found anywhere. On the way out of the hospital at about 4 am, we saw about 5 nurses gathered around the front desk computer laughing at something on the internet. I was so upset at the way I was treated and their complete disregard to even attempt to find out what was wrong with me that I had no trust in their ability to help me again. I had 4 more agonizing gallbladder attacks each lasting 6-11 hours of brutal pain. I chose not to waste my time at the ER. My 4th trip to Rex was to have my baby. This too was the most despicable experience that people are still shocked to hear. My friends that have had 4 and 5 children cannot believe how I was treated by the nurses and my visiting family was apalled. During labor I was screamed at and told I wasn't trying. My husband was yelled at by a grouchy lady nurse b/c he almost passed out when she kept throwing the sheets off of me in a fit. I pushed for 4 hours with her yelling at me only for the doctor to finally show up and saw that the baby was in a position where I could not have him vaginally. I told her I'd like to try and she said it is impossible. Why could they not check the position of the baby before I pushed for 4 hours? After delivery I had 4 different nurses coming in. My mom was keeping track of my medicine. It's a good thing, because they almost double dosed me 4 times. THey also gave conflicting orders and advice and treated me like a neglectful mother if I followed one's advice over the other's. My 5th visit there was after delivery with my final gallbladder attack. By this time, I had diagnosed myself and told them that was what was happening. Turns out I had 14 gallstones and needed surgery within a few days b/c I was at risk of it exploding it was so full of stones. Large stones. My 5th visit was surgery. I wrote a letter to the director of the hospital and got no apology and no response. I reported them to better business bureau. No apology. No response. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to Rex Hospital. more
