Bad service, horrible food!!!!!! 4/11/2008

I do not recommend this place to anyone. The food is lousy, every dish I order was horrible: the tea leaf salad, the coconut noodle soup, and the spicy fried cat fish. Bad experience!!! Service was lousy, we sat ourselves and grabbed our own menus. more

Tasty and delightful. 1/8/2007

My brother took me here last night, and it was wonderful! I'd never had Burmese food before, and the traditional tea leaf salad was amazing. So delicious, in fact, that I got another order to go and dropped it by a friend's (I knew she'd like it). I also had a red curry beef, which was fantastic, and very much like a beef rendang. The noodles were also good, but very much like lo mein. I'd stick to the Burmese style here, and Don't come here for the ambience, however. Much like my beloved Thai ""Sunshine Restaurant"", there's a blaring television, and the place is so anassuming you might miss it if you're not looking carefully. If you like food adventures, definately make this trip. I'm excited to go back! That salad is truly addictive (must be the caffeine)!! Pros: Delicious, and lovely waiter (owner?). Cons: Blaring TV in the background. more

Great tea leaf salad 6/26/2006

I fell in love with tea leaf salad at a restaurant in Maryland (suburban DC) when I was living there for a few years...I came to Yoma just for that staple and theirs totally wowed me. I have yet to go back for a full meal but totally anticipate the rest of the menu to impress. more

We were greeted by a surprised hostess/waitress with a mouthful of Burmese food. She was joyous to see us and sat us immediately. We were the first customers of the evening at 6 pm. The restaurant is very small and plainly furnished. The menu had many Burmese and Thai choices. We let her recommend the Burmese specialties which were curries. Dinners include soup, salad, rice, and the entree. Three of us had a feast for $36 total. The food was hot and delicious. Definitely a restaurant for those looking for authentic cuisine but willing to tolerate a simple storefront setting. Pros: friendly, authentic, variety of food Cons: small, plain setting more

Hidden on Garvey in the San Gabriel Valley is a Burmese/Thai gem that puts out dishes with tremendous flavors. While it's not the best Burmese restaurant I've been to (Try Burma Super Star in San Francisco) Yoma does stick to it's traditional roots - and reminds expatriots of home. Try the la pat dok (tea leaf salad) or the kauswer dok (vegetarian noodle salad) for a new experience. It's one of those ""you have to try it to know what I'm talking about"". Pros: parking, inexpensive, tea leaf salad more
