Very disappointing 6/29/2006

Weak service. A terrible entree and the blue cheese dessert was more of a gimmick than a refined dessert. This slightly worn and stuffy restaurant was the best Monrovia had years ago. Now even the midlevel restaurants on Myrtle far surpass it. It still draws an older, monied and less sophisticated clientelle who feel uncomfortable in the trendier restaurants. more

Valentine's Day 2/16/2004

Valentine's day, dining with another couple. Seated on table near bar where everyone who is waiting must stand. Very disconcerting to have people hovering. Server seemed to be responsible for all tables in this area PLUS he had to bartend leaving us to fend for ourselves for coffee, etc. Food arrived minus one of the entrees, arriving 15 minutes late. Did not see server till we flagged him down for check. Mentioned this to manager who seemed totally obivious; commenting only that the server was stretched a little. No sympathy, no empathy. Halie's Smarter Sibling 5/15/2002

While Halie in Pasadena is just fine, we've come to much prefer Devon its older sibling in Monrovia. Here's a good test of a restaurant's service: We had a pleasant, unhurried dinner at Devon on New Year's Eve. And our meals were prepared with the same care they receive on any other night.
