We paid for 3 nights in cash. First mistake.
The road up to the campground was very rutted and we put our truck in 4x4 to be able to creep up slowly with the camper.
The campsite we were put on was very short and difficult to get the extended cab long bed truck with a pop up camper in the spot. (I pull a longer trailer everyday. It was not inexperience in backing trailers.)
The kids were running around our site and there was ivy growing not ten feet away from the camper in several locations. This website will not allow me to put the other word in front of ""Ivy"". Let's just say the stuff you don't want on your skin that makes you itch and leaves a nasty rash.
The next morning we went to the bath house. We could not walk in the door as there was a sewage back up and it was flowing out the door. It was still like this that afternoon as we packed up camp and went to another camp ground.
We could not find anyone there to help. Nobody around the next morning and on several attempts to get a refund the next 2 days. We stopped in 2-3 times per day the next 2 days we were in the area in efforts to get a refund for the nights we did not stay. We were willing to pay for the night we did stay even though we were dissatisfied.
In attempts to contact them, they were also unavailable to talk to. We contacted the local tourism organization and they were unable to help. Apparently, the campground was no longer a member and the tourism board would not tell us why out of professional courtesy.
The positives for this campground were easily summarized. They have a nice location. It is close to Old Man's Cave. This is where the positives stop.
I am self employed and do not like giving negative views of any other business. If they had at least attempted to contact us, returned a call, or maybe even apologized I would not leave a negative review. The total lack of professionalism and unwillingness to attempt to rectify the situation by the workers and the owner leave me no option. I do not want to see another family have the experience my family went through. The Hocking Hills region of Ohio is a wonderful vacation area and I do not want any out of town or out of state campers to come to Ohio and have the terrible experience we had. For this reason alone, I felt obligated to leave a review. I do not want another family to experience a tainted vacation such as the one my family had to witness.
For what it is worth, we still made lemonade out of our lemons. We packed up camp and went to another local campsite. The neighboring campsite was more than accomodating and bent over backwards with customer service. There is much to offer in the Hocking Hills area. This campground in my opinion does not have anything to offer.
Pros: Location is the only pro
Cons: Bathroom backed up, nobody available, road to camp rutted
