Medium sized zoo 3/16/2006

The zoo is probably about right, or maybe a little small for a city this size. Large animal exhibits include polar bear, elephant, tiger, giraffes, and probably others I can't remember. There are quite a few smaller animal exhibits and would take about 2-3 hours to walk through with kids. Nowhere near the size of Phoenix or San Diego Zoos, but definitely worth the price of admission ($5 for adults). The strange thing is you could drive by this side of town and never know there is a zoo there. Seemed to be fewer education activities than expected and no petting zoo. more

exotic zoo 8/21/2005

If your kids like animals and going to zoos, Reid Park Zoo is the place to be. They have a wide variety of animals and is kept fairly clean. The prices are affordable and the zoo is open daily except Christmas. The Zoo has approximately 500 exotic animals from around the world. more

I love the zoo!!! 8/14/2005

Its definately not the San Diego Zoo, but it is still a great way to spend an afternoon. The zoo is small, but all the necessary animals live there. I do not reccomend going in the summer since it is very hot. You are able to get close to the animals, unlike many other zoos. It usually isn't too crowded, which is nice. Kids will love it; take the whole family!!! more

Reid Park Zoo 7/28/2005

I love our zoo! The Tucson Zoo is the perfect size. I've been to zoos in other states and, my word, you could spend a couple of days there! The Tucson Zoo is perfect for a day trip. It is constantly being improved. Become a member for admission for yourself and children for a year as well as discounts on birthday parties and other member only activities. The amazon exhibits are usually my kids' favorites, I like the otters! Very reasonable prices. Now, the food is not so reasonable- bring a lunch and eat at the park, feed the ducks, and then go through the zoo. more

Nice for the kiddies. 7/27/2005

This is a good zoo with lots of different animals and exhibits. Don't expect anything too fancy or exotic though, because this isn't the San Diego Zoo or anything. This is good to take younger kids to on Saturday. Maybe afterwords you can have a nice picnic in the park. BTW, the park is very shaded and there are ducks to feed also. As well, there are jungle gyms and the like scattered around the park. more

Zoo to You! 7/16/2005

Being a native of Tucson, I've seen the "Randolph" Park Zoo become the "Reid" Park zoo. I has gone from animals in small cages to the spectacular zoo it is now. The transformation has been unbelievable if you've been around like me to see it! The animals are given venues more like their natural habits. It reminds me a little like the Denver Zoo. I love the Polar Bears, giraffes and zebras! It's such a nice place to leisurely walk and take your time to view the animals. There is a snack bar or you could bring along your snacks for the kids. I can't go into the gift shop without a t-shirt or animal puppet. There is the Christmas time Zoo celebration yearly where the lights are up. Also Feast with the Beasts celebration. Being a member is worthwhile. more

Great zoo for little ones 7/11/2005

Nestled in a mid-town park, this zoo is small, but boasts some impressive animals. A polar bear, two elephants, three giraffes, a couple of tigers and lions, and the new otter exhibit are highlights. The size of this zoo is just right for small children. I can take my 18-month old son around the entire zoo before he gets too tired and cranky. A few of the habitats make it difficult for little ones to see, but most of the animals are easy to view. My family has a membership to the Reid Park Zoo. For only $40 per year, we have unlimited admission for the entire family. With the low price and the central location, a membership is worthwhile for families with small children, as you can make frequent, short visits, spending about an hour to make one trip around the exhibits. more

Reid Park Zoo 6/16/2005

We enjoy our visits at Reid Park Zoo. Although it's not quite as big as we'd like, it has enough animals to keep the little ones occupied and happy. They have the usual animals: tigers, bears, lions, birds, elephants, etc. The kids love to take pictures of them especially when they're doing "silly" things. Afterwards, there's a gift shop where you can buy a souvenir. I would recommend sunblock and iced water for those long, hot, strolls along the zoo. There's also a nice park nearby for a picnic! more
