The environment is cold. The prices are high. Despite that, I love Aveda and the first stylist did a great job. But she left the salon. I persevered and tried a second stylist and she was so so. She left the salon. At this point I asked for an appt with someone established. Because I planned to be a regular client. I was told no one was taking clients and I could go on a wait list. I am still waiting after 7 weeks. I conclude they don't need the business. I suggest you try elsewhere. more

I just moved here from Seattle and I was worried about finding a good hairstylist, after seeing The Refinery Salon online I decided to give them a try because their website was beautiful. I knew I wanted to go to the owner(Beverly) and it took about 3 1/2 weeks to get in to see her, so my expectations were really high. Even with my high expectations this was by far the best experience I have ever had in a salon, she took her time and gave me the best haircut Ive ever had! My hair is so easy to style in the mornings! \r Truly can't say enough about this wonderful stylist! more

Filthy Place! 4/6/2012

There is a reason why there are no photos of the salon on the website. The place is filthy. I got ring worm from the filthy clippers my stylists used and my hair fell out in the patch and was an embarrassment. STAY AWAY! more

I have been going to Danielle for a while now and I just wanted to remind her happy I am with everything she has done with my hair! When I started going to her, she wasnt in the best shape ever! (Before I moved here) She got it back to the way it was a few years ago and better! The atmosphere of the salon is so relaxing. They are so nice and all attention is on you! Southern Pines best! 8/31/2011

I'm new to the area so finding a salon that fit ""me"" and made me comfortable was definitely a priority. I had been to many consultations at various salons in the area. Let me just be the first (or 9th) person to tell you how awesome this salon is! Carey was my stylist (assistant)--new to the area herself-she knew exactly what I wanted and what style I was trying to achieve. Her professionalism and LISTENING qualities are impeccable. She used online photos to ensure we were on the same page--awesome!!! There wasn't ever a lull in conversation or lack of topics to talk about as all of these ladies work VERY well together. Not to mention my highlights were PERFECT! By the end of my appointment I felt as though I was hanging out with old girlfriends-never once did I feel left out or discarded:-) I now find myself looking forward to my appointments. Thanks to Carey, Beverly, and Danielle for such a great experience! See you soon! more

Talent and Professionalism 3/5/2011

I found The Refinery via a websearch and was impressed by what I read on the website. I just moved down here from the North East and was really worried about finding a good hairdresser. A girl and her hairdresser are not easily parted....:) I knew I had come to a professional and friendly place the minute I walked in the door and was greeted with a genuine smile by Kelly. I loved the atmosphere and the consultation advice I got from Daniella and Beverly. I made my first appointment and the rest is history. Daniella listened very closely to what I wanted, gave me some great advice and my color and cut are fabulous. I have no hesitation in recommending The Refinery to anyone who wants a professional friendly and talented hairstylist team. more

Great destination for men 7/7/2010

I recently had a mens facial at The Refinery and it was the best! I have never been in a room so quiet. When I first arrived I was a little concerned because the spa room is so close to the hair stylists but they turned on this air cleaner and I could not hear any of the salon noise....I seriously forgot where I was. My skin looks awesome and after all of the golf that I have been doing lately I really needed it. I have never had a facial that incorporated so much massage and she even groomed my eyebrows.....the best! Pros: true retreat. more

Not a ""salon guy"" 4/29/2010

Ok here goes, I have never been to a ""salon"" but my wife gave me a massage for my birthday. I wasnt sure if I would feel comfortable in a girls world but I was very surprised to find it looked more modern than fru fru. I had an hour massage with Laura, she took the time to talk with me about beforehand and she gave me the best massage I have ever had. Laura was slim but she gave an incredible deep tissue massage, hard to believe someone her size had such great strength. I told her to begin with that I cycle alot and she seemed to know all of my areas that I had pain. Pros: not girly,felt very welcome. more

Most Amazing Massage! 4/2/2010

I have a very stressful job and I also am training for a marathon. I went in to get a deep tissue massage from Laura. WOW! I feel fantastic! She showed me stretches after the massage, and recommended some supplements for my skin. I have very sensitive skin and I am coming back next week to try out the facial. The Aveda tea was delicious! The Best Spa Treatment 3/30/2010

I have traveled all around the world for my work and try to take time for myself as often as possible, I found this place thru citysearch and it exceeded my expectations! I signed up for ""just for you"" Package, it was 3 full hours plus a wonderful consutation. Laura was the person that gave me my treatment and she gave me the best massage and facial that I have ever had! I have never had a massage therapist take the time afterwards to show me stretches! Moved here 2 years ago, and was searching and searching for a good place to get my hair done, and finally found it at The Refinery. The best place in town, especially after I have tried every other place. The attention to detail with your hair is great, no worries about that ""fatal"" hair mistake here. Fabulous Service! 10/9/2009

Beverly is very talented at hair design. She asked questions about my hair throughout the whole experience, listened to me and designed an amazing hair cut and style. I felt completely relaxed and nurtured. The salon is beautiful, airy, and tranquil. Plus it has all those incredible Aveda products! Pros: Aveda salon, attention to detail more
