Reel is so much fun 6/11/2006

They have a rocketship that kids can play in, and more videos than I can really process. Videos as far as the eye can see! Categories I never thought of! And categories I never thought of looking through! I go there, I see twenty things I want to watch, my friends say "no we came here to get this one," and I never come back to get all those twenty movies. O Reel, the failings are mine, not yours. more

Reel Video with Real Selection 3/1/2006

Reel Video has the best selection of videos I’ve ever seen. The fact that they have sub-categories and sub-categories, makes walking around Reel Video fun. And, the sub-categories are things like “vampires,” “slapstick,” “high school,” etc. The specificity of the subcategories makes you wonder who had time to organize it all, but they really help with selection! Please note, most of Reel Video’s depth of selection is on VHS, so you really miss out if you only have a DVD player. The prices for VHS and DVD are the same. All videos are $3.50, with either one evening rentals or five days. Be careful not to bring the videos back late because you’ll get fined another $3.50 for each video, which can get pretty pricey. more

Reel 1/4/2006

Reel is a movie rental store in the southwest part of Berkeley on Shattuck avenue. They have a great selection of movies, especially old classics and romances. They have more movies than blockbuster and they charge much cheaper rates. Even the service is better but since it's a local movie store, it's not quite as popular. more

Unique video store 7/29/2005

Reel video has great selection of DVDs/videos AND employees with personality whose recommendations actually count for something. Many of the films are shelved based on the director or lead actor, which makes it easy to browse for something new you might like. If you know exactly what title you want, don't waste time trying to figure out how they cataloged it, just ask at the desk and they'll lead you right to it. To complete your night, you can buy bottled sodas, Odwalla, pints of ice cream, cookies, microwave popcorn and candy. more
