This particular library isn't huge -- and from the outside, it doesn't look particular significant. However....
1) If you have a library account for King County, and you log in to your account online (kcls.org), you can search for books you want and then have them put on hold for you at this location
2) When the book is available for pickup, an email will be to sent to you as notification. This is super convenient. Most times i don't need books RIGHT away so this system works really well for me.
3) I used to volunteer here as a Study Zone tutor. Even though this location is small, there are a lot of kids that come in to study during the week. It's great to be able to help them on homework and answer questions (although often I have to review the material before i can answer questions). I like the fact that this branch makes an impact on the community even though it is a seemingly small location.
4) They have automated self-check out machines. So usually i park my car outside, i come in to the Holds shelf, pick my book off the shelf and do self-check out. i can be in and out in less than 5 minutes!
5) They have automated drop off boxes -- a few outside so you don't even have to come inside and one inside.
The only inconvenience to this library really is that th eparking lot is quite small. Even with the neighbouring city hall parking, sometimes the log can get extremely full. There are three spots where cars can park temporarily to drop off their books but even then, often those spots are also full.
Otherwise, this is a great library -- small and cozy but serves it purpose in a much bigger way.
