Super Great thrift store 4/16/2006

This is my all time favorite thrift store to shop at in Portland. They had the usual assortment of clothes, books, trinkets, knick knacks, bedding, etc. They have a different sale on different days of the week so you never quite know what bargains you are going to find. They keep the store clean and neat. There are no public restrooms here so you do need to plan ahead! And they do not accept credit cards - only cash. more

Cash Only - The American Way 1/15/2006

Red White and Blue is one of the busiest thrift stores in town. About the size of most Value Villages or Goodwills, they a have a tiny parking lot and great deals. The most important thing to remember here: Cash ONLY. I always seem to forget that and never have enough cash for all the bargains I find. One thing that is particularly impressive here is the high quality shoes. The prices for shoes are higher than many other area thrift stores but one can find brands normally only sold at Nordstrom's, Imelda's, Sax, and the like. Shoe styles are rather current as well and you can easily find at $600 pair of shoes for $15.00 in tip-tip shape. Men's clothing is in good shape here too. Stylish, business attire is available as well as casual wear. I'm not as impressed, however with the women's and children's clothing and they don't have much a plus-sized selection. Housewares are varied and it depends on the day what you will find. Books are limited...but the shoes do make it worth walk in! more

Large Thrift Store Gladstone 8/20/2005

This store is right on McLoughlin BLVD, but slow down as you might miss it. It sits back away from hywy and this is a very busy fast street. You can park out front on on the side parking lot. This is a big store. There are lots of items but you have to check very carefully for flaws. The ceramics and dishes and home decor items are good. By the cashier are the newer items and items of higher quality, so don't miss those. Staff is very limited. more
