Corporate Burgers done right!

Thank goodness that Red Robin set up shop here in Flower Mound. Oh sure, we have our share of other corporate burgers whose drive-thru fare is predictable. But going to a place where you actually have to sit down and have a dining experience for a burger, tips you off right away something is different about this place. Sure, the ambience reeks of the old-time malt shop - it's corporate trying-to-be-fun fodder. (Anybody remember Farrell's?) Perky, chatty Flower Mound teens skitter around seating you, and taking orders with a minimum of grating Valley-Girl linguistics.
But wait! This place has a BAR! What a refreshing thing for a family-oriented burger chain - even if the drinks are a bit more expensive than they should be. It brings a smile to the face to see poor old dad bringing in a whole ball team (or his weekend visitation crew) to a family burger joint and still be able to have a little 'rita action or other comfort. And while it is a family place, it never gets so loud that you can't hear the person next to you - high ceiling acoustics being a thoughtful part of the design.
And sure, this place piles on the giant fries in an effort to put some folks in a diabetic coma. But, the onion rings (again giant) are to die for. And the main course burgers are worth every penny of their substantially higher prices than the drive-thru variety. Yet, they are not so expensive that you could get a steak dinner for the same money, like at other ""Gourmet Burger"" places.
The desserts here are wonderful too, and like the burger variations, they try to keep things mixed up, so when you visit there is something new on the menu. Get on the corporate website and you will often receive coupons and menu updates.
No wonder there is - more often than not - a line of folks waiting, especially on a weekend. It is worth every bit of the wait - especially with televisions everywhere you look, including the floor.
