Great service, great food 12/12/2010

Placed an order for delivery. The food came within a half hour. It was fresh and tasted great! Will be my new place for Chinese take out. Yum! more

Reopened and delicious 11/16/2009

I really enjoy going there because their buffet has a lot of variety and it is about 2 minutes from where I live. The prices are very good. It is easy to miss as it is right before the entrance to 35W and on a strip mall which is very small. It is definitely worth the trip. Pros: Great buffet, cheap prices Cons: not a great location more

Unfortunately Red Ginger at this location has closed due to the County Road J bridge being torn down and taking so long to be rebuilt. My wife & I ate there a lot. more

I hope service has improved 12/5/2007

My husband and I used to go to Red Ginger once every couple of months on the weekend to see my favorite jazz band Chill 7. The last time we were there, almost a year ago, we sat ourselves in the bar area and waited...and waited...and waited. We sat for 10 minutes without so much as an acknowledgement that we were there. There were only 4 other tables with customer's at the time! Even the band noticed because they made a comment as we were walking out the door. We haven't been back since. It's a shame. I love Red Ginger. The food is fabulous. It was so nice to have a place where you could enjoy dinner, cocktails and jazz without having to go downtown. Pros: Food, Live music on weekends Cons: Service, service, service more

Not very authentic 11/16/2007

This is more of a trendy place that sells Americanized Thai food. Not spicy enough. Many of the vegetables used incorrectly and they put canned peas and carrots in their fried rice. Yuck! Pros: Nice Atmosphere, good place to take a date Cons: disappointing if you are looking for real Thai food. more

Give this place a try! 4/29/2007

This place is excellent. We've been there on several occassions for drinks and appetizers and ended up staying for dinner twice. The service is excellent. The food is wonderful and the prices are great. There are a group of regulars there that are great people. They are always up at the bar and will talk to anyone. It's a great place - check it out sometime. more

Too Slow 2/22/2007

The service was very slow. We were not seated promptly in additional to that we waited for some time to get our orders taken. It took about one hour for our food to come out and the place was not even busy!!! I ordered a drink and never recieved it. The waitress said that she put my order in but the bartender was busy so that's why my drink wasn't made yet, then 20 minutes later she comes back and asked what I ordered. What a LIAR! I would not go back to that restaurant, the dishes are overpriced for food that doesn't even taste as good as the ones I make. more

Great Asian Food with a Hidden Treasure - the BAR! 1/9/2007

Since I moved to Shoreview in 2003 I have been a frequent patron at the Red Ginger. EVERYTHING on the menu is excellent! Try the Pineapple rice - a culinary masterpiece! Recently the Red Ginger has added live entertainment on the weekends. They have popular Jazz and Rock bands that start around 8:00 in the bar. No cover and great service! Great place for all ages to come and hang out after dinner! The bartenders know how to make almost every drink around and offer up great conversation if you are sitting at the bar. The owners of the restaurant often come around to chat with customers and make sure everything is to your liking. It is a great small town feeling asian restaurant with an excellent big city asian menu. Red Ginger can compete with any of the five star resturants, and you don't have to deal with city traffic to enjoy it! Pros: Food, Bar, Entertainment, Service, Location more

Average food, noisy and dirty 6/18/2005

Asian entrees in the $10-$12 range. Ate dinner here on a slow, Sunday evening. Small portion of rice. Food was served quickly, but staff was not very attentive. The bar area was noisy and smoky. The main dining area had dirty carpet. Not worth traveling the distance (5 miles). Better choices exist. Perhaps lunch is better. Pros: Parking Cons: , Inattentive Service more

Great neighborhood eatery! 3/7/2004

A comfortable little place with good food at a good price. We had two kinds of eggroll, one had meat and the other didnt. Both very good, delicately fried and extremely flavorful! Tea comes in your own pretty, porcelain or clay pot. Cashew Chicken, Asian Grilled Salmon and Roasted Duck were all quite good! Good portions for the price with lots of Cashew Chicken to take home. If you want to actually be able to hold a conversation with your dinner companion/s without yelling and if you want food of reliable quality at a decent price this is for you! Most entrees are in the range of $9-15. Most portions are healthy to hefty, they serve wine and have a full bar. more

Worth the drive 10/13/2003

Out-of-towners, we drove 25 minutes from airport to this locally owned and operated north side restaurant. Food was very good, delicately spicy. Sesame noodles were excellent, with lots of fresh basil, sprouts, and sesame seeds. Tofu vegetable dish was also very good. Fried cheesecake dessert was unusual but quite tasty. Service was friendly and attentive but not intrusive. Bistro style decor. Definitely worth the drive. Pros: Inexpensive, Convenient Parking, Near Highway more

Great new Restaurant! 7/2/2003

We recently visited Red Ginger and were very pleased! They have wonderful food and service. The appetizers (wings, chicken lettuce wraps, and pot stickers) were all very flavorful! Menu selection is wonderful with a wide variety of Asian foods. We will definitely be going back! Pros: Easy Parking, Inexpensive, Easy to find more
