Red Chimney Pit Bar-B-Q

Avoid this restaurant - mediocre bbq, bbq sauce that is very strong with vinegar. Food served was cold - not just tepid, but actually cold. Five dinners ordered - three were 'acceptable' and two were not. Pork was nearly 30% fat. Waitress asked if we wanted something else - so ordered a pulled pork sandwich - only to be served the same nasty, fatty, cold pork slices/slabs on a bun - definitey NOT pulled pork so cut our losses and shared the meat from the other 4 at our table.Then were billed for BOTH meals! Asked for adjustment - manager was surly, then outright rude. Then HE added a tip to the bill - even tho the restaurant policy was to add 15% for parties of 6 or more -- we were five. There's more - but no point in kicking a dead horse.In short - a very unsatisfying end to a day hiking the Carlsbad Caverns for 4 miles.... KFC bbq chicken sandwich would have been a better option. Pros: Good parking Cons: too many to list more

I've had BBQ all over the USA. This is some of the best anywhere. Well worth a visit when you're in the area. Pros: Great BBQ Cons: Can't think of any. I enjoyed everything about this place. more
