Ok, but Lots of Potential 6/11/2011

I hope this place does well. It's a very nice looking place that's set a little away from the main traffic of Glendale. It really is in a perfect setting in Glendale. I could see it being a big weekend brunch place, but I don't think it's really caught on. Glendale doesn't have alot of good brunch places, so I'm not sure why this place isn't bustling on the weekends. I think it's in part because not many people think about having weekend brunch in Glendale and because not that many people know about this place. It's a shame because this place does really stand out.\r The food is good. It's definitely different from the usual Glendale fare. It's got a bit of westside influence as someone mentioned previously. The only problem is that because their business is slow, the selection that they have isn't all that great. Which, understandably, can lead to slow business. \r I've been there several times because I pass by it periodically. I would recommend checking it out. It's a great option for those who live and work close by. more

Finally, decent quality & style in an area begging for it 10/14/2009

Brand Blvd and north Glendale is a beautiful, comfortable place that is depressingly short on quality eateries (just how many Armenian markets do you need in a neighborhood? jesus christ...)\r \r When I saw this place open up it seemed to be constructed with some actual taste and my interest was immediately piqued.\r \r I went in to assess and had a really pleasant experience. The atmosphere and layout isn't giant, but comfortable and classy. The design is on par with a moderately fancy Hollywood/Beverly based eatery.\r \r The service was friendly, helpful, and speedy. She explained they specialize in locally grown, fresh, and organic food which is why they don't have a freezer. Because of this commendable dependence, the fluctuation of ingredients and item availability is to be expected.\r \r All the items are a reasonable $6-10 and were flavorful, a decent size, and fresh tasting. I particularly appreciated the fact it wasn't drowned in grease and oil.\r \r Are there better places in LA? Sure. But this is by far one of the best options in the area and deserves business to not only encourage quality growth, but because the food and drinks are actually quite good! Pros: Nice aesthetic, local/organic food, friendly service Cons: Ocassionally limited offerings (but expected w/ fresh food) more

Great west-side Style Cafe in Glendale 10/7/2009

Meh, not impressed 9/9/2009

This place is good for a recess or break from work, with tasty treats and close proximity to many businesses in an underdevloped part of town. However, those who come here for breakfast and lunch will likely be dissapointed by the small selection which is served on paperware (they do not have a cleaning station apparently). This old, but nicely renovated, establishment is also lacking effective HVAC. All in all, this place has some potential, and the offerings look good (when we dined here last weekend, they were out of half their menu), but perhaps rushed their opening without working out many kinks. IMHO, this place is more of a coffee shop than restaurant. Pros: Reasonably priced Cons: LIMITED menu, Faulty Air Conditioning, Flys, No glassware more

Owner Message
  • If you could close your eyes tight enough you might be able to go back far enough to see yourself racing for the door (if's time for recess an no one could get in your way - shoelaces undone, that sparkle in your eyes, it was time to play.) It was a time and place where you knew you were going to have fun, sharing snacks you had left over from lunch, playing hopscotch on the blacktop or just chatting it up with your pals. It was the place to be and, honestly, my favorite subject in school. So we're all grown up now and after a long winded, fine dining, celebrity driven, career Sevan decided to pause and realize his dream of having a small place he can call his own to share with friends and family.
