I, too, was referred by a transmission shop. However, Ray refused to take a test drive - "too dangerous" - and wanted $180 to change plugs, distributor cap, air filter, etc. which I had already had changed last week. When I refused to pay to have work redone, I was charged over $50 for his time. WHAT A RIP-OFF!!!! more

Ray's Garage was recommended to us by a guy at a transmission shop. When I called to schedule an appointment it was over a week until I could get in, but once I told the person answering the phone (Ray's wife) what was going on with our car she said that he would probably want to get it in earlier because of the danger associated with the problem. We were in two days later. \r \r Ray called us before beginning to work on the car and after assesment of the problem. He originally told us that a filter would probably need to be changed, but once he started working on the car and saw that it didn't need to be changed yet he left it and took it off of the price. That to me is invaluable because I know very little about cars and would probably go along with anything a mechanic told me. \r \r This is a Mom and Pop operation, but is an excellent place to take your vehicle.
