Went over on a Monday night and it was PACKED! Food is still good as ever (although prices have increased to offset new move) and service was good considering the amount of people to serve. New location has much more adequate seating and more open and inviting. Noise is still a factor, it is not made for romantic evenings for two, but very family friendly. Can't wait to try the outdoor patio when the weather agrees! Overall, great place to take the family for a good meal with huge portions :D more

Rattler's has been an SCV favorite for a long time. It fell off my list of places to go after several bad experiences (with the service mostly). It's back though and delicious. I had a party catered by Rattler's earlier this year. The food was delivered on time and the portions were gigantic; I couldn't have cooked for the price of the delivered food. The rolls are super, the tri-tip out of this world. The beans are Ok but the chicken is mealy and way over cooked. Salad bar is a 6 out of 10, and the portions are on the large side. Coleslaw is better than KFC but not up to that of a good eatery. It's on par with the stuff at Ralph's Deli. For large groups and catering this is a good deal. As an idividual BBQ joint, it's more like fast food. Children will love it and that is a tip off. Good BBQ is spicy, unique and regional. This is designed for mass appeal and as such, aims for the middle of the road; which I maight add, it hits dead center. As to the noise factor, if you want to converse with friends at the table be prepared for a shouting match. I've been to Bavarian Bier Halls that were more intimate. If you live anywhere near this restaurant, you're likely drooling a fair amount of the time; the scent is heavenly. BBQ Ribs, tri-tip and chicken are the fare here. Tri-tip is wonderful and on certain nights it's all-you-can-eat. The salad bar is one of my favorites. Service can be frustratingly slow. Avoid going with large groups; they're all put in one area and service is slower than usual while the noise level is barely tolerable. Rattler's is great for take out and for catering. Bargain Hint: Get the salad bar to go. At something like $3.59 a pound, you'll be surprised how cheap a good salad (made by YOU) can be. Mmmm.....
