Great Indian Food across from Stoneham Theatre 2/11/2011

Great service, although sometimes they are not clear on who is responsible for which table. If you ask, they all help you right away. The food is traditional and well prepared. Free parking lot across the street. more

Finally an amazing Indian restaurant in Stoneham Sq!!! 10/18/2008

One of the best Restaurants in general. We feel lucky to have Rang in Stoneham Sq. Having lived here for many years I like that we have a variety of restaurants near by. I'm new to Indian cuisine, but the wait staff at Rang made the acclamation a smooth one. The second time I visited, I was amazed to see, that the waiter remembered my name, more surprising, was the fact that he remembered the dish I ordered! so, he recommended a new dish, as a way to expand my cultural horizon. Pros: ample parking, cross the street from a theater, good for first date more

BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT IN ALL OF BOSTON!!!!! 10/13/2008

I have read hellyeah81, N sghandi posts and must say that I disagree wholeheartedly! I decided to try both Rang and Ambassador restaurant before writing this review. I've lived in Boston all my life, and consider myself a conissieur of Indian cuisine. I have been to Rang and Ambassdor several times, to give it a fair trial. while I don?t live near Rang, is a few miles away, I would drive to Rang in a heartbeat. Funny you say the papad came burn, b/c there is no way to burn papad, every time I go to Rang, the papad is fresh and tasty and the chutneys did not come at an extra cost; and who in their right mind eats sliced onions with papad, I eat slice onions with my food, specially chole bature, which is finger licking good at RANG!!! And yes, anything extra should be charged.. At Rang I was charged around $1.50. At ambassador, I got charged almost $4.00!! now, that is a rip off!!! At Rang, I ordered the Saag Panneer, and my friend ordered their lamb special. The lamb was well cooked, moist, savory with all of its juices, and just delicious!!! My saag was amazing, it had a nice consistency, and the panneer, was not undercooked- how can you screw up paneer, its like messing up mozzarella cheese when you make bruschetta! I love lassis! Period, and I have yet to find a place that makes it like rang. All in all, I love the crowd at Rang, the service is prompt, and the wait staff knows me on a first name basis. They know what I like to eat and always make feel unique by giving me the attention necessary for a pleasant dining experience. This service is unique to Rang. This is much more than I ever got at ambassador whose saag paneer was creamy and watery! I will never go back to Ambassador, but Rang, is my favorite Indian restaurant in all of boston! Nothing comes close to their service, food and ambiance! I just love it. Most importantly, they have very reasonable prices considering the economic turmoils we are facing. Great food on a budget!! Pros: Ambience, parking, service, location more

Tried several times, consistently bad service - sub-par food quality 8/7/2008

You know, I went to Rang once, and I had a bad experience, similar to Mrs. Gandhi below. But as Kurt&Martha pointed out, they might just be having an off night. So I waited to write a review, and went back a second time, which was on-par service. Then the third time, it was like the first time all over. So i have to rate this one star mostly due to the bad service. Pros: location Cons: poor service, slow service, just average food. more

Most delicious Indian food east of the Mississippi 6/28/2008

Having moved here in 2005 from Northern California, where very good Indian food restaurants are in abundance, we searched high and low for good Indian food after moving here. We are so happy to say that having discovered Rang just a year ago in 2007 it is, by far, our favorite as the service is prompt and courteous, the food delicious and the location perfect as it is only a few miles from our home. As the old saying goes ""Try it, you'll like it!"" (or LOVE it in this case!). We are sorry to see that one customer had an unfortunate customer service experience, to which we would say everybody everywhere has an off day, try it again and see what you think! Thank you, Kurt and Martha Pros: Delicious and authentic Indian food Cons: Not across the street from our house! :^) more

Great Indian food in Stoneham MA! 4/25/2008

The food is very good, the service is friendly and professional. I enjoyed their taster meal several times. They have great evening specials, love the lamb shank. You find dish on the meal that are not on menu of other Indian restaurants. Pros: Food, freindly Cons: A little hard to find more

Indian restaurant like a visit with a good friend 3/28/2008

Since moving to Melrose last May, I've been hard pressed to find quality ethnically diverse food here in the suburbs. (I'm not a fan of 'Roast Beef and Seafood'. Ugh.) Pros: Fabulous on almost all levels Cons: front entrance opens right into the dining room, they could use a smidge more space more

Worst customer service ever! 12/24/2007

Pros: The food was decent, servings are large Cons: The service is third grade, the worst we've ever experience more

Consistently great 9/25/2007

We have a 2 year old who loves naan, but not much else Indian Food, so most of the time we're dining on Rang's delicious food ""to go"". It breaks my heart to dash in and out, while other diners are enjoying the ambience and setting. I would always rather dine IN the restaurant. The staff are warm and welcoming, and the service is attentive. The Biryanis are particularly good, and the Saag dishes are done well. Actually I've never had a dish here that wasn't outstanding, and I've tried nearly everything on the menu. Beware the Chicken Vindaloo - I had to eat that dish s-l-o-w-l-y. The location is perfect - right in Stoneham center along the city square - away from street but still in the middle of everything. Pros: Food. Service. Easy parking. Cons: None. more

Finally a good indian in the north shore 4/30/2006

I was pleasantly surprised to see an indian restaurant in stoneham, and ofcourse i had to go in. The food was great, the decor has good earthy tones and is calming. The tandoor dishes were moist and succulent. The location is perfect, right across from the stoneham theater in stoneham square. I now don't have to travel into the city or compromise with the food which i can now get close to home. Pros: service, decor, food more

New favorite indian restaurant! 3/12/2006

This is my new favorite Indian restaurant in the Boston area. Having lived in Jackson Heights, New York I have tried many indian restaurants of all categories and Rang compares very well. The ambiance is welcoming and warm. The menu is standard indian fare, but all done very well. Note: the biryanis are on the spicy side. The Dosas are thin and lightly crispy and the Kormas and Mahknis are creamy, flavorful and delicious. They also have a great daily ""all you can eat"" lunch buffet for only $8 per person, even on weekends! The staff is also very pleasant and accomodating which is always a huge plus. Rang is a great addition to the neighborhood and area. more

Rang is a must try!!! 2/1/2006

Rang offers locals a novel and elegant dining experience. The warm orange tones were brought to life by the subtle lighting fitted with exquisite looking tiny lamps that hung from the ceiling. Spirited Indian music played softly in the background, quiet enough for a date with your special someone or going in with a group of your favorite comrades conversation was easily had. You will notice the menu is a customary Indian menu, with variations from north and south India. From ordering to finally eating my dish only took about 10 minutes.... I had a generous portion of saag paneer freshly diced as if it was just brought from the market with rice and a side dish of delicious garlic Naan. The prices are fairly moderate for an Indian restaurant. For fine dining experience without the hassle of coming into the city, Rang is a must try!!! more
