My second time around. Pros: A Mid dinner show. more

Excellent sushi. 5/1/2008

This restaurant has been around for a while but this is actually my first time trying it. The place looks great. They have a beautiful japanese garden as you walk towards the entrance. Besides that, the service was pretty slow. I can barely understand our server, but she was very polite and nice. The sushi was EXCELLENT. They have a great variety of sushi fish and all the ones I tried were fresh. Pros: Good Sushi Fish, great looking restaurant. Cons: Quicker service. more

Bad Service 12/26/2007

It took forever to have our server to even notice my table... the only time he strolled over was when we needed our tab... And the nerve of him to include 18% grat into a party of TWO.. a word or two was needed for that... Unacceptable. Pros: Parking was great Cons: Horrible service more

Great sushi boat 12/17/2007

I would recommend this restaurant for a date and especially if you two were to get the early bird special (the love boat?). you get chicken skewers, shrimp skewers, a few sushi pieces, a steak that's to die for... oh it's soo good. i tried alligater tail here, too. that was off the hook! the taste of the food overall is wonderful and the atmosphere is romantic. Pros: food is great!!! Cons: a little bit expensive, but you gotta expect that for great food!!! more

sub-standard sushi, bad service! 1/11/2007

I ate here last night with a large party for a business dinner. I love sushi and have had great sushi many a time--this was NOT one of them. Saying it was average is being generous.... Pros: ambience Cons: service, food more

A wonderful dining experience! 6/21/2006

My Japanese wife and I have been dining here for many years and have never been disappointed. The ambiance is great, including a koi pond, impeccable landscaping and enchanting background music. There are two tiako (or Japanese drums) shows nightly and the children are invited to feed the koi nightly. The customers birthday ceremony is very special. As for the food, it is Japanese, but with a Floridian influence. I highly recommend the boat for two people that includes a fresh lobster tail and tender sliced steak. I also recommend the yosanabe, which is a fresh fish stew for two, prepared at your table. I must admit, during the busy periods service can be a bit substandard, but this is not a restaurant where you expect to be in and out in less than an hour, which is so common with most American diners. Pros: The "value" includes the ambience and entertainment. Great for groups & families. Cons: Gets crowded fast...have a reservation on weekends. more

Good Food, Terrible Service 1/16/2005

Our experience was mixed. The food and sushi was amazing, but the service was beyond terrible. We waited forever for our food and drink refills were requested numerous times without results. If you have a lot of time to kill, I recommend it because the food is very good. The manager even was embarassed at how bad the service was. more

Twice in two days 5/21/2004

While attending a seminar at the Peabody I came across Ran-Getsu, I dined alone at the sushi-bar the first nite and was (custom) made a ""Mexican roll"" by my sushi-chef, he was very attentive and gracious. I was so impressed that I ate there again the next evening with a friend, this time we tried alittle of everything including the Kobe beef which was delectable as was the entree of beef and vegatables cooked table side by the restaurant manager himself. The sevice was impecable every detail mastered. I look forward to dining there again next week on vacation with my husband. Pros: entertaining, attentive, fresh Cons: , a little pricey more

Ichiban (#1) Japanese Restaurant 3/4/2003

An unusual yet enjoyable dining experience. The well decorated settings will whisk you away to Tokyo. The food was exceptional. Try the diver scallops, chicken yakitori and expecially the sea bass. Vey good food with an above average waitstaff. A little noisy, especially during some of their authentic presentations. Allow yourself time to enjoy the whole dining esperience. Du to the high volume of guests, the air circulation did not appear to be very good and it was a bit smoky. Pros: good parking, authentic, imaginative Cons: somewhat noisy, somewhat smoky more

engagement 2/14/2003

My fiancee and I love Ran-Getsu. We were engaged there overlooking the coi pond. The food is wonderful, I highly recommend the Japanese sushi dish. The American sushi dish did not look good. Also, the cheesecake is delicious, especially if you get fresh berries on it. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to everyone, and in fact, I always do. I plan on going back very often. more
