The poor rating is not for the food (which is good for fast-food Indian), but for the fact that I've ordered from this place repeatedly and always include at least one request for them to include some of their dipping sauce. They NEVER include it. This sauce comes free with meals. It makes their food taste better. Now I'm paying more for their food (delivery fee + tip) and not even getting the standard freebees. I know these guys are super stingy with this stuff and that it's not an oversight. Last time I order from them. more

Great value and good food 4/8/2011

While the name might throw you off, the food when you get there is very good. It's a cafeteria style and it's mainly Indian influenced (yes, mac and cheese available, but they are catering mainly to the U. of Chicago students I'm guessing). more

Rajun Cajun is my favorite place to order from in Hyde Park. The Indian food is delicious and so is the Macaroni and Cheese. I don't have a favorite entree; they are all great but my favorite Indian sides are the Mutter Paneer (Curry of peas & cheese) and Saag Paneer (Spinach & Cheese). more

My food arrived quickly, but it was only half of my order. Upon calling the restaurant, I was met with a very rude response from the persons working there. They informed me that they had not received the order I claimed to have made and they had sent out what I'd asked. I had ordered a dinner and two sides. Only the sides had arrived. After a half hour process, the restaurant finally agreed to send my items to me. It took an additional hour. I was very displeased. more

Curry flavored cajun food !! 4/24/2005

I drove all the way from Schaumburg to go to a " cajun" restaurant. Rajun Cajun is definately not it. It is an indian restaurant and I think they season all their food with curry. The only thing I had that was decent was the fried chicken and mac and cheese. Dont waste your time. more

    We are a combo soul food and Indian cuisine restaurant. The Rajun Cajun is as eclectic as restaurants come. This Hyde Park favorite has a yellow and red interior, bright neon lights and a deli-style counter that screams soul, but there?s more to its ambiance than a New Orleans flavor. Rajun Cajun is a melding of cultural traditions, mixing New Orleans with New Delhi.

    It features fried chicken, mac and cheese, and corn bread alongside tandoori chicken, saag paneer (spinach with homemade curd cheese) and crispy samosas (fried with vegetable fillings). The butter chicken is excellent, tender and oh-so spicy, while the $2 mango lassi is a wise choice for those searching a cold summertime treat.

    The South Indian portion of the menu is a bit on the steamy side, but don?t be scared off. The food is wonderful and a bargain, with meals under $10 and a delivery charge, if you feel like staying in, of only $3.
